Alex Windsor is opening up about how her relationship with Will Ospreay really began, and it turns out their connection started long before romance entered the picture.

While speaking to Denise Salcedo, Windsor revealed that she has known Ospreay for around 15 years through the British wrestling scene. She recalled first seeing him at a backyard wrestling school, where he was messing around with training mats.

“I’ve known Will for about 15 years now. I think he was at one of the backyarding schools, and I went out there and saw him messing around with the training mats. Obviously, we’ve known each other through the British scene.”

Windsor explained that while they had known each other for years, they were mostly just wrestling acquaintances. That changed almost five years ago when both of them were going through a difficult time and decided to reconnect.

“You know, you meet so many people, but they’re all just wrestling acquaintances. And then, almost five years ago, we were both having a difficult time—we both were. So we were like, ‘Let’s just have a catch-up. We haven’t seen each other for such a long time.’”

That simple catch-up eventually turned into something much deeper. Windsor said they both understood that the other was going through a rough period, so the meeting started from a place of friendship and support.

“Like, you know you’re going through a bit of a time, me too—so let’s have a good old catch-up. And it kind of went from there.”

Windsor made it clear their relationship did not begin with a grand plan. They simply wanted to meet as friends, and that is what makes the start of their relationship so meaningful to them.

“But it wasn’t really like that—we just wanted to meet up as friends, and that’s how we both got together. So that’s special to us.”

Ospreay announced his engagement to Windsor on June 14, 2025, sharing a black-and-white photo of their hands and Windsor’s engagement ring with the caption, “She said Yes 💚.”

Ospreay previously spoke on Talk Is Jericho about how important Windsor and her son Harrison are to him, explaining that his family life played a major role in his decision to sign with AEW over WWE.

“I entered into a new relationship with my new Mrs., who wrestles under the name Alex Windsor. I have a stepson now, he just started school. I couldn’t bear the thought of moving her away from all of that and having her on her own again… Tony has given me nothing but trust and respect… It was the right decision for me at this time.”

Windsor’s comments give more personal context to a relationship that has become a major part of Ospreay’s life outside the ring. What started as a friendship during a difficult time eventually became a lasting partnership and now an engagement.
