AJ Lee Signals Latest WWE Run Is Over

AJ Lee appears to have wrapped up her latest return run in WWE, but she made it clear that this isn’t the last time fans will see her.

Following her high-profile return earlier in WWE’s new era of distribution, Lee resurfaced during the early days of WWE’s deal with ESPN and stepped back into the ring at WrestlePalooza alongside her husband, CM Punk. Her most recent appearance came at WrestleMania 42, where she shared the ring with Becky Lynch on what WWE often calls “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

After that appearance, Lee took to Instagram on Tuesday to post a message thanking several WWE stars and staff members, while also hinting that this chapter of her comeback has come to an end. While reflecting on her time working with Lynch, Lee spoke highly of her longtime rival and expressed appreciation for their work together in the ring.

“Rebecca, you’re selfless, hilarious, and pure joy to spar with. Thank you for keeping me safe and making me better.”

Lee continued by acknowledging others who helped her throughout the run, noting how the experience reignited her passion for wrestling.

“Carla and Aoife, I fell in love with wrestling again by seeing it through your eyes. I’m so proud to be a teeny part of your journey.”

She also took time to thank trainers and the women’s locker room, crediting them for helping her enjoy wrestling again after stepping away for years.

“Pam, you’re the undisputed GOAT. Thank you for going out of your way to help me train, to make every show so f’ing fun, and for healing my jaded heart.”

Perhaps the most telling part of her message came when she addressed her fanbase directly. While her words suggested this latest run has come to a close, she made it clear that another return is still possible down the line.

“To my AJ Leegion, my mania entrance was a love letter to you, and to every girl who will become her own superhero… Your passion kept me coming back. Stay weird, see you soon.”

That final line strongly suggests that while this phase of her return may be finished, Lee is leaving the door open for another comeback in the future.

Lee’s latest stretch in WWE included stepping back into a major spotlight, culminating with her match against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42. With her recent message signaling a pause after months of activity, it appears her most recent return run has reached its natural stopping point — at least for now.

Even though this chapter looks finished, Lee made one thing clear: she’s not closing the book on WWE entirely, and another return remains a real possibility whenever the timing feels right.
