AJ Francis isn’t backing down from his claim that he’s the greatest AJ in TNA history, and now he’s calling out AJ Styles for supposedly avoiding him. The former WWE Superstar believes Styles knows exactly who the better AJ is, and he’s convinced that the WWE veteran has been staying away from him on purpose. Francis didn’t stop there either, because he also dragged Styles’ son Avery into the conversation.
Speaking on The Wrestling Classic, Francis was asked about his previous claim that he’s the greatest AJ to ever step inside a TNA ring. Considering everything AJ Styles accomplished during his legendary run with the company, that’s a pretty bold statement. Francis wasn’t interested in taking it back, though. In fact, he believes Styles agrees with him because he hasn’t stepped up to prove otherwise.
“I think AJ Styles agrees with me that I’m the greatest AJ that ever stepped in TNA because if he didn’t agree with me, he’d actually do something about it and he’s been ducking me for years. So I don’t think that he actually disagrees. I think he agrees I’m the greatest AJ to ever step foot in TNA. And you know, AJ Styles been ducking me for years.”
Francis wasn’t finished taking shots at the Styles family. He brought up Avery Styles, who has been getting opportunities in TNA, and claimed Frankie Kazarian was encouraging Avery to stay away from him. That’s when Francis suggested avoiding him might be something the entire family has in common.
“You know, Avery’s apparently ducking me because Frankie Kazarian’s telling him to. You know, maybe, just maybe, ducking is what runs in the Styles family. Maybe, you know, if it’s blood deep, blood in, blood out. Maybe they scared of AJ Francis on that family tree because they know I chopped that shit down.”
The conversation then turned to Avery getting opportunities because of his famous father. Francis actually defended Avery’s position in TNA, explaining that he has no problem with second-generation wrestlers benefiting from their family connections. However, that doesn’t mean he’s planning to go easy on him if they ever meet inside the ring. When the interviewer pointed out that Francis still wanted to beat up Avery, he made his intentions clear.
“Oh, I beat the shit out of Avery Styles for sure. I beat him. I give him the ass whooping his daddy fucking gave him a long time ago.”
Francis was then told that facing Avery would be an opportunity to see whether the young wrestler could handle the pressure. He wasn’t interested in giving Avery much of a chance.
“No, he gonna sink. He going to sink. Put belt to ass. I’m from the 90s. In the 90s, we used to beat children. You know what I’m saying? I was one of them children that used to get beat.”
AJ Styles helped build TNA into a major name in professional wrestling, winning multiple world championships and becoming one of the company’s most recognizable stars. Francis clearly isn’t impressed enough to put Styles ahead of himself, and he’s now bringing the next generation of the family into the argument.
For now, these are Francis’ claims, and there’s nothing establishing that AJ Styles has actually been avoiding him. Still, Francis seems determined to get a confrontation with someone in the Styles family, whether that’s the father or the son.
