AEW has officially locked in Winter Is Coming 2026, and this year the company is taking the December special south of the border.
The promotion announced that Winter Is Coming will take place on Wednesday, December 9 at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. Both Dynamite and Collision will carry the Winter Is Coming branding that night, giving fans a double dose of AEW television from the same venue.
AEW confirmed the date and location in a social media post while also revealing when tickets will go on sale.
“As announced by @FOXSportsMX, AEW returns to Mexico this December! #AEWDynamite & #AEWCollision: Winter Is Coming takes over Arena Monterrey on Wednesday, December 9. Presales start Tue 10/13; tickets go on sale Fri 10/16 at 10am CST!”
The advertising already features Andrade El Idolo, Bandido, Persephone, Thunder Rosa and The New Level’s Austin Creed and Kofi, giving the Monterrey crowd a pretty clear idea of who AEW plans to push front and center.
This will be AEW’s first event in Monterrey. Tony Khan has made no secret about wanting to run more cities in Mexico after the company found success with Grand Slam Mexico in Mexico City.
Winter Is Coming has been an annual AEW tradition since 2020, when Sting made his company debut and Kenny Omega won the AEW World Championship. Now the event is getting an international twist for 2026.
The timing also drops Winter Is Coming right into AEW’s year-end sprint. The company has WrestleDream on October 17 in Orlando, Full Gear on November 14 in Phoenix, then Winter Is Coming in Monterrey on December 9 before Worlds End hits Minneapolis on December 19. Ringside News has covered AEW’s continued international expansion, and this is another sign that the company wants more than just one stop in Mexico.
The date is set, the building is booked, and Monterrey is officially getting its first taste of AEW. Now the only question is what Tony Khan plans to load onto the card when Winter Is Coming rolls into Mexico on December 9.
