Sheamus officially reached free agency on October 1 following his WWE exit, and it sounds like AEW could already be waiting in the wings.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, there is interest within AEW in potentially signing the former WWE Champion now that he’s available. The report notes that AEW is expected to pursue Sheamus should he decide to continue wrestling outside WWE. That interest also extends beyond management, with several members of the AEW locker room said to be in favor of bringing him into the company.
Sheamus’ future has become a major talking point after his WWE contract expired on October 1. While previous reports suggested he turned down a reduced contract offer because he believed he could earn similar money elsewhere, this update is the first to indicate that AEW itself has interest in making a move.
As of now, there is no indication that Sheamus has agreed to join AEW or that the two sides have reached any sort of deal. At this stage, the report simply points to mutual interest rather than an agreement being in place.
Sheamus has yet to publicly comment on his next move, so where he ultimately lands remains to be seen. But with free agency now officially underway and AEW reportedly interested, his next chapter could become one of wrestling’s biggest stories in the weeks ahead.
