Tonight’s AEW Dynamite airing May 7, 2025, promises an action-packed night live from the Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. The show sees The Opps’ AEW World Trios Champion Samoa Joe take on The Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli in a Singles Match. Plus, AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm faces Penelope Ford, Anna Jay and “La Mera Mera” Thunder Rosa in an AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator 4-Way Match.

The show opens up with a new theme song “You Wanted War!” by Sum 41. Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone then welcome us.
Hangman Page then makes his way down to the ring and cuts an in-ring promo. Page says he has never understood why even one fan would cheer for him after everything he has done. A “Cowboy Shit” chant then breaks out. Page then tells the fans it does make a difference. Hangman then takes in the cheers of the crowd. Hangman then says he should not have to say it, but the past two years have been some kind of special hell. Hangman then says after what happened to him and his family, he wanted revenge and justice and he found it. Hangman then says he took from another man his hopes and dreams and nearly killed him.
Hangman then says after their cage match he stood on the ramp thinking he would feel some kind of joy but instead felt nothing. Hangman then says he doesn’t know why that happened and he will never forget or forgive Strickland for what he did to him. Hangman then says he’ll have to somehow put that behind him. Hangman then addresses the 2025 Men’s Owen Hart Cup Foundation Tournament and recalls beating Josh Alexander and Kyle Fletcher in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively before saying he will beat Will Ospreay in the finals.
Will Ospreay’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Ospreay stares Hangman down and says it’s strange that this is the first time they have spoken to one another and it’s a pleasure for him to meet Hangman. Ospreay then says he can see Page is going through a lot and one of his favorite moments in wrestling is when he took The Dark Order and showed them what a leader is. Ospreay then says Page’s run as AEW World Champion was perfect, but after he lost the title everything changed for him and he gets what Page is going through. Ospreay then says the look in Page’s eyes hasn’t been seen for a very long time and while everyone including himself wants to see Page beat his demons, he has a problem with that. Ospreay then says he’s not losing to Page in the Men’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament Finals at Double or Nothing and he’s been doing all of Page’s jobs as Page has been nowhere to be found.
Ospreay and Page then stare each other down, but The Don Callis Family appears on the entrance ramp. Don Callis then says Ospreay proves how stupid he is to him every day, then asks if he knows the man who is standing in the ring next to him. Ospreay then stands up for Page and proposes a tag team match between him and Page against The Don Callis Family and Callis accepts as he continues to try driving a wedge between Ospreay and Page. Page and Ospreay then continue to stare at one another while Callis and his crew heads to the back. Ospreay then eventually leaves the ring.
Commentary then speaks about Page vs. Ospreay in the Owen Hart Cup tournament final for AEW Double Or Nothing and hypes Jon Moxley vs. Samoa Joe in a cage match for the AEW World Championship for next week’s Beach Break themed edition of Dynamite. Excalibur then runs through the lineup for tonight’s show.
Stokely Hathaway and FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) then confront Tony Schiavone at the commentary desk. Hathaway asks if Schiavone or Nigel McGuinness has an issue with FTR. Hathaway then says FTR apologized to both men, but Schiavone still has negative things to say about him and his team. Hathaway then calls Schiavone a decrepit, pasty, piece of shit. Schiavone then stands up and says that is enough. Hathaway then shoves Schiavone back into his chair. Schiavone then stands up, but Harwood and Wheeler stands in front of Hathaway. Wheeler then tells Schiavone to relax and shifts the focus to Daniel Garcia’s issues with them. Wheeler says whatever is happening at AEW Collision on Thursday will hurt them more emotionally than it would hurt Garcia. Harwood then tells Schiavone to tell McGuinness they will see him on Thursday’s Collision.
We then head to the back, where we see Anna Jay and Harley Cameron talking. Jay asks Cameron if she has her fat ass again this week. Cameron says she has the “T’s” and Jay has the “A”. Jay then hops on Cameron’s back before Cameron walks out.
Toni Storm, Thunder Rosa, Penelope Ford and Anna Jay then all make their way down to the ring for the first match of the night.
The match starts off with Jay delivering some stomps on Ford. Storm then cinches in a side headlock on Rosa and nails her with a shoulder tackle, but Rosa responds with a hurricanrana. Ford then dropkicks Rosa across her spine, but Rosa flies off the top rope to land on Storm, Jay and Ford on the outside.
Storm then hits a German suplex on Ford. Rosa then nails Storm with a running knee, but Jay hits Rosa with a back elbow and a boot on her face. Jay then hits a German suplex on Ford before Storm and Rosa look to hit a double suplex on Ford. Megan Bayne then appears and nails both Storm and Rosa, then hits a powerbomb on Jay. Harley Cameron then makes her down to the ring with a pipe in hand and clotheslines Bayne out of the ring, then hits her in her midsection and across her spine with a piece of pipe as both women brawl to the back.
Ford then locks in a Indian Death Lock on Jay, but Storm breaks the hold and cinches in a Sleeper on Ford and Ford taps out.

After the match, Storm holds up Rosa’s hand and hugs her.
We then see Cru (Lio Rush and Action Andretti) walking through the crowd.
The Hurt Syndicate then make their way down to the ring. Once in the ring, MVP says they have an official announcement. MVP then introduces his allies and says they are the AEW World Tag Team Champions. MVP then says AEW is where the best wrestle. MVP then asks why teams aren’t stepping up for shots at the tag titles. MVP then asks if anyone would step up. Top Flight (Dante Martin and Darius Martin) then make their way down to the ring. Darius says they have been down on their luck lately. He then says teams like Cru are afraid because The Hurt Syndicate hurt people. Darius then says they get knocked down and get up every time. Dante then says they have held their own with championship caliber teams and he knows they can do it again. Darius then asks the fans if they wanted to see a miracle.
MJF then makes his way out and attacks Dante and Darius. MJF then sends Darius into the ring post and delivers some punches at Dante. Dante is bleeding after being sent into the ring steps. MJF then holds him up and shows his bloody head to The Hurt Syndicate and powerbombs Dante onto the ring apron. MJF then enters the ring and goes face-to-face with Lashley. MVP then hands MJF a microphone. MJF then says he hurts people. Lashley then tells MJF he will have an answer for him next week.
Excalibur then gives an introduction to The Elite and Ricochet. We then head to the back, where Nicholas Jackson tells Excalibur to show more enthusiasm when they pitch to the founding fathers. Matthew Jackson then says it is a huge night for The Elite and notes that Kazuchika Okada will be in singles action. Okada then calls his opponent Kevin Knight a b***h and they make their exit. Ricochet then joins the Jacksons and says he knows they have a Swerve Strickland problem. Ricochet then says he has beaten Swerve twice and has his number. Ricochet then says if the Jacksons follow his lead, he will lead them to victory. The Jacksons are cool with Ricochet’s comments and Ricochet makes his exit.
We then head to the back, where we see The Young Bucks enter The Elite locker room and find The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta) waiting.
Nick Wayne is then introduced as the ROH World TV Champion. Christian Cage’s entrance music then interrupts the introduction and. he walks onto the stage with Mother Wayne and Kip Sabian. Excalibur says Wayne will be facing someone from Christian’s past and Rhino makes his way down to the ring as Nick Wayne’s challenger.
The match starts off with Wayne delivering some strikes on Rhino. Rhino then hits a couple of clotheslines on Wayne, then follows it up with a spinebuster. Wayne then responds with a Killswitch on Rhino for the win.

After the match, Christian enters the ring and grabs the ROH World TV Title belt before the referee. Nick then tries to take it, but Christian calms him down and acts like he is going to put it around Nick’s waist. Christian then looks at the belt. When Nick demands that he hand it over, Christian drops the belt and makes his exit. Sabian then follows Christian. Mother Wayne then stays in the ring and hugs Nick.
We then get highlights of Sammy Guevara winning a four-way for $100,000 on Saturday’s AEW Collision.
We then get a RUSH promo.. RUSH stands on a stairway and blames Kevin Knight for costing him $100,000. RUSH then says Knight will pay.
Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe and Mike Bailey then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Ricochet and The Young Bucks follow.
The match starts off with Strickland and Ricochet and Strickland goes straight after Ricochet. He then sends him crashing into the top turnbuckle face first and sends him crashing into the mat, then tags in Briscoe. Speedball then tags in and Strickland sends Ricochet over to Speedball to hit a powerbomb on him. Briscoe then hits a running elbow on Ricochet before all six men begin brawling with one another.
The Young Bucks and Ricochet then hit sentons off the apron and over the top rope on Strickland, Briscoe and Speedball, but the trio quickly recovers to sneak up on The Young Bucks and Ricochet. Matthew Jackson then holds Speedball in place across the top rope for Nicholas Jackson to hit a double stomp on him off the top rope.
The Bucks then look to hit a double superkick on Speedball. Speedball then avoids it and tags in Strickland. Strickland then hits strikes on both Matthew and Nicholas, then continues to wear down Matthew. Briscoe then hits the Froggy Bow on Matthew and goes for a pin, but Nicholas kicks out. Speedball then hits a moonsault on Ricochet on the outside as Matthew rolls up Strickland for the win.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing Will Ospreay and MJF interrupts. MJF looks into the camera and plugs that Dynamite Diamond Rings are available for purchase. MJF then says make me richer and you poorer shop now. MJF then says he hopes Ospreay wins the Owen Hart Cup tournament and the AEW World Championship because taking the title from him will be like taking candy from a little British baby. Ospreay then questions why MJF isn’t in the Owen Hart Cup tournament if beating him is so easy. Ospreay then suspects there is some fear in MJF that he will pick him up and drop him on his head. MJF then says Ospreay is the reason they put directions on shampoo bottles. Ospreay then laughs. MJF then says he hopes they wrestle again because Ospreay will find out that nobody is on the level of the devil. MJF then turns to leave, but Ospreay pulls him back and delivers his on another level catchphrase.
We then get the sit-down interview between Renee Paquette and Jamie Hayter. Hayter takes issue with Mercedes Moné talking about Scooby-Doo characters and her legacy. Hayter then says she will be damned if Owen Hart’s legacy will be represented by Moné, who is the antithesis of what he stood for. Hayter then says she wants to get to know the real Mercedes. Hayter then says she doesn’t have Moné’s star power or credentials, but she has integrity. Paquette then brings up Hayter missing time due to a back injury. Hayter then cuts her off and says her back is fine. Hayter then says Moné is looking past her. Moné then shows up and grabs Hayter’s hair, but Hayter stands up and hit Moné and then battle off-camera.
Commentary then speaks briefly and Moné and Hayter brawl in an area next to the stage. They eventually fight on the stage and Moné heads backstage. Hayter then turns to play to the crowd. Moné then returns and hits Hayter from behind and puts her in her submission finisher. Moné then releases the hold when a referee shows up. Moné then stands up and poses next to the Owen Hart Cup while Hayter sells the lower back pain.
We then head to the back, where Alicia Atout is interviewing Willow Nightingale about her issues with The Death Riders. Willow says luckily she is not alone because the list of people who want to put an end to the Death Riders gets longer and longer. Kris Statlander then shows up. Statlander tells Willow that if she wouldn’t talk to her in the back, then they would do it here. Willow then says she didn’t think there was much left to be said. Willow then says Statlander is disappointed that she didn’t win the Owen Hart Cup. Willow then recalls that she could have won it last year had it not been for Statlander. Willow then ends the conversation. Statlander then starts to walk away, but Willow pulls her back. Willow then says if Statlander wants to meet in the ring on Collision there is a whole bunch of sickos who would love to see that. Willow then offers Statlander her hand. Statlander then shakes Willow’s hand and says she will see Willow there.
Kazuchika Okada then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night. Kevin Knight then follows, but RUSH blindsides him on the entrance ramp. He then sends Knight crashing into the ring steps and into the barricade repeatedly, but “Speedball” Mike Bailey comes to Knight’s aid.
The match starts off with Okada continuing to beat down Knight. He then hits a Flapjack on him. Knight then hits a sit-out powerbomb on Okada. He then hits a Frog Splash on Okada, but Okada responds with an elbow drop on Knight and nails him with a boot, but Knight looks to fly off the top rope. Okada then hits Knight with another boot mid-air, then follows it up with the Rainmaker for the win.

After the match, Okada hits two more Rainmakers on Knight until Speedball comes to Knight’s aid.
We then head to the back, where Don Callis is standing with Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer, Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero. Callis takes issue with The Outrunners wanting to face Beretta and Romero. Callis then tells The Outrunners to find a couple of partners and they can take on his family.
Excalibur then lists the following matches and segments for Thursday’s AEW Collision: Mike Bailey vs. Dralistico, Anthony Bowens vs. Lee Johnson, Willow Nightingale vs. Kris Statlander and Daniel Garcia vs. a member of FTR. Excalibur then lists the following matches and segments for next Wednesday’s AEW Beach Break themed edition of Dynamite: Will Ospreay and Hangman Page vs. Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander and Jon Moxley vs. Samoa Joe in a steel cage match for the AEW World Championship. Excalibur then hypes the Samoa Joe vs. Claudio Castagnoli main event coming up next.
We then see Alicia Atout ask The Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) about making MJF wait until next week for a potential thumbs up. Lashley is about to answer, but a man whispers in his ear. Lashley then says per the advice of his legal counsel he will have an answer next week. MVP then says the lawyer’s name is Harrison Landau.
Claudio Castagnoli then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night and Samoa Joe follows.
The match starts off with both men wasting no time in going after each other and locking up. Joe then sends Castagnoli crashing into the barricade midsection first, but Joe returns the favor on Castagnoli and delivers a chop on him. Joe then hits a uranage on Castagnoli, then delivers more chops on him back in the ring and follows it up with an enzuigiri. Castagnoli then responds by sending Joe’s arm bouncing off the top rope.
Castagnoli then wears down Joe with a submission hold. Joe then responds with a scoop powerslam on Castagnoli, then sends him into the corner and hits an Atomic Drop on him. He then follows it up with a boot and a senton, then nails him with a clothesline. Castagnoli then responds with a springboard uppercut on Joe, but Joe cinches in the Coquina Clutch on Castagnoli and Castagnoli quickly taps out.

After the match, The Death Riders make their way down to the ring. Powerhouse Hobbs then joins Joe in the ring with a chair in hand and Moxley signals to the rest of The Death Riders to stop what they’re doing. Hobbs then hits Castagnoli across the spine with a chair and Joe sends Castagnoli crashing into the chair that has been set up midsection first. Joe then stands tall holding up the chair and staring down Moxley as the show comes to a close.
