AEW Dynamite Results (1/7/2026): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show opens up with commentary welcoming us and Jim Ross gets an introduction for his return to the booth to a big pop from the Tulsa crowd as he is making his way to the desk.

As Jim Ross is making his way to the desk, we get the hype for the rest of the lineup for tonight. Bandido defends his ROH World Title this week and will challenge for the AEW World Title at Maximum Carnage next week. We then find out that the Trios Match scheduled for tonight is unclear as we head backstage to find out that JetSpeed were attacked earlier today.

The Demand is then shown being shocked by this development as Don Callis talks about someone being much richer thanks to the bounty that was put out on them. He then hypes up Mark Davis and new Don Callis Family member Jake Something before they leave. Commentary then says Jake Perry now must find two new partners for the Trios Match.

Jon Moxley then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night and Shelton Benjamin follows.

AEW Continental Championship Eliminator Match: The Death Riders’ AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley vs. The Hurt Syndicate’s “The Standard of Excellence” Shelton Benjamin

The match starts off with a handshake attempt but it is slapped off by Moxley. Both men then go at it until Benjamin takes control, sending Moxley to the corner but Moxley fights back with a set of chops to get out of the predicament. Benjamin then takes the fight back to Moxley with some chops of his own, sending him across the ring for more damage. Moxley then hits Benjamin with a boot to the face before sending him over the top rope and to the outside, following close behind to send him into the barricade. Moxley then returns the favor on Benjamin, but Benjamin manages to send him over the barricade and into the crowd.

The fight finds its way back toward ringside, with both men getting back into the ring just long enough to break the referee’s count. Moxley then puts Benjamin in a hammerlock before sending him into the ring steps. Moxley then gets back in the ring as the referee reaches a new count of eight before Benjamin returns as well. Benjamin then starts to fight back as he hits the ropes, but gets sent down to the mat hard by Moxley. Benjamin then hits an avalanche suplex on Moxley, sending him crashing to the canvas. With both men back to their feet, they begin slugging it out and Benjamin starts to take control until Moxley dodges a corkscrew kick.

This then allows Moxley to regain control of the match, setting up for a Gotch style piledriver until Benjamin breaks free. He then hits three German suplexes in a row on Moxley, but Moxley is already back on his feet only to get sent right back down. Moxley then turns it around to take Benjamin down, using the ropes to get back to his feet. Both men then exchange strikes, with Moxley winning the exchange to take a near fall as we get a five minute warning announced. Moxley then turns things up a notch as he sends Benjamin to the corner for some mounted punches until Benjamin counters into a powerbomb for two.

He then quickly transitions into a modified STF, wrenching the neck of Moxley until Moxley gets the ropes for a break. He then sends Benjamin to the ropes, setting up a low bridge to send him to the outside for a dive that sends Benjamin into the barricade. He then brings Benjamin back in the ring, but gets taken down with a slam allowing Benjamin to get a near fall. The fight then heads to the corner, where Moxley looks to take Benjamin down but Benjamin catches him with a kick to the back of the leg, allowing him to take Moxley down for another two count. He then hits a couple more kicks before Moxley counters into a Paradigm Shift DDT. He then makes a cover, but Benjamin kicks out.

Moxley then locks in a choke hold and Benjamin fights to break free as we’re down to one minute remaining. Benjamin then reaches the ropes for a break, hitting a knee strike followed by a triangle choke but Moxley stacks him up on his shoulders for the three and the win, just seconds away from the time limit.

Perry then makes a tag to Nick for a double team and and the tags rotate between he, Matt and Perry to keep Ricochet at bay. This then culminates in a DDT by Perry, but Bishop Kaun breaks the pin attempt that follows. GOA then get caught on the outside by a dive from the Young Bucks as Perry continues to keep control of Ricochet for a near fall.

GOA then return to the corner, distracting Perry long enough for Ricochet to send him to the floor with a dropkick. The Demand then send Perry into the timekeeper’s area to keep him down and out. Perry then limps his way back to the ring and The Demand has control of the match. Ricochet then hits a stalling senton before pulling Perry’s hair with his boot. The Young Bucks are then taken down on the apron. The Demand then triple team Perry before Liona gets a two count.
