The show opens up with commentary welcoming us as pyro cuts off Tony Schiavone as he introduces the contract signing between MJF and Kenny Omega for AEW Dynasty. Judas then begins to play, revealing the return of Chris Jericho. The crowd then sings along with his theme as he makes his way down to the ring. When the music finally dies down, the crowd starts chanting “welcome back” and his name and he acknowledges the crowd for it, which gets another big pop. Jericho then poses for the crowd some more as they chant welcome home since he is from Winnipeg. Jericho then gets a mic and finally addresses the crowd.
Jericho then says, “Winnipeg, AEW, I’m home” and hits music hits as the crowd cheers some more. Commentary then addresses him returning after nearly a year away.
We then head to the back, where Will Ospreay is seen going after Jon Moxley. Wheeler Yuta then tries to break things up, only to be sent into some kegs before security arrives to put a stop to things here. They then pull him away as we head back to ringside.
MJF then makes his way down to the ring to get the contract signing underway and Kenny Omega immediately follows. Both men then sit across the table from each other and it seems we get smooth sailing on them signing the contract. Omega then interrupts MJF trying to talk, running him down for always having something to say. Omega then acknowledges MJF’s comments about how AEW’s business is booming. While Omega admits it’s true, he says it’s because people come to see the best wrestle and it isn’t because of MJF. Omega then recalls sharing the personal news with fans about his health situation and praised them for standing by his side.
Kenny Omega then vows to be the one who knocks MJF down a peg or two and says he will be the one to make sure MJF never gets near the AEW World Title again. MJF then mocks Omega and asks, “So this is Kenny Omega at a 100%” and laughs. MJF then says like his “injury prone boyfriend” Kota Ibushi, Omega is one gust of wind away from suffering a career-ending injury. MJF then teases spilling the beans on something about Omega. He then asks the fans to guess why Omega is so keen on becoming AEW World Champion more than anybody on the roster and that is because Omega has visited the doctor. MJF then says the doctor told Omega his diverticulitis is so bad that his intestines can explode anywhere, any time and any minute and his career is a ticking time bomb.
MJF then says at Dynasty all of Kenny Omega’s disciples will be ashamed of him. MJF then says Omega will be better off dead. Omega is ready to strike and MJF is ready to get struck with the clause that if Omega touches him, their match will get canceled. “Speedball” Mike Bailey then interferes and stops him. He then calls MJF out for goading Omega. He then says that if there’s no Kenny, there’s no AEW and if there’s no AEW, there’s no MJF. Bailey then challenges MJF so he can kick some sense into him. Omega then admits that he is missing 24 inches of his intestines and there is truth to his statement. Omega then says he would rather have his intestines missing than his balls. This then riles up MJF, who accepts Bailey’s challenge but says he’s not just facing any old MJF, he’s facing an American hero. MJF’s music then hits as he makes his exit from the ring.
The Demand then make their way down to the ring for the first match of the night and Brody King and Jack Perry follow.
The match starts off with Omega and Kaun and Kaun traps Omega in a side headlock. Omega then counters with one of his own before hitting the ropes, where Ricochet catches him with a knee to distract him. Kaun then hits some shots before making the tag to Liona and he and Ricochet double team Omega. Omega then dodges a strike from Ricochet for a tag to Brody King, who lays some heavy shots on Ricochet. He then goes for a cover, but GOA break it up. They then go after King, sending him to the outside where Omega tries to intervene as well before Perry hits a moonsault on the rest of the opposition.
