Tonight’s AEW Dynamite airing April 2, 2025, promises an action-packed night live from the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Illinois. The AEW Dynasty go-home show sees The Death Riders (AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir) take on Swerve Strickland and Willow Nightingale in a Mixed Tornado Tag Team Match. Plus, “The Rated R Superstar” Cope faces The Death Riders’ AEW World Trios Champion Claudio Castagnoli in a Singles Match.

The show opens up with Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Taz welcoming us as Excalibur informs us that The Death Riders attacked “Switchblade” Jay White before the show began. Excalibur also says the beating was so severe that White is being treated now and has been pulled from the 2025 Owen Hart Cup Tournament, which means the brackets have had to be reset and we will find them out later tonight.
The Death Riders then make their way down to the ring for the first match of the night and Willow Nightingale and Swerve Strickland follow.
The match starts off with Strickland and Moxley begin brawling on the outside as Nightingale and Shafir go at it on the other side of the ring. Strickland and Nightingale then send Moxley and Shafir crashing into adjacent barricades, but Shafir hits a suplex on Nightingale on the floor and helps Moxley set up a table. Moxley then drags Strickland up on top of the announce desk as Shafir beats down Nightingale in the ring. Nightingale then hits a chop on Shafir in the corner and Strickland sends Moxley crashing into the ring steps. Moxley then hits Strickland with a shoulder tackle, but Strickland responds with a dropkick. Strickland then hits a backbreaker on Moxley and Nightingale follows it up with a missile dropkick off the middle ropes.
Strickland then hits an elbow drop on the ropes to the back of Moxley’s spine and Shafir hits a chop on Nightingale in the ring. Shafir then jams her knee into the back of Nightingale’s neck and both women continue brawling on the apron before Shafir sends Nightingale crashing through the table.
Shafir and Moxley then look to hit a double suplex on Strickland off the top rope. Nightingale then pulls Shafir and Moxley off, then stacks Moxley and Shafir on top of one another in the corner and hits a splash on them. Strickland then hits a jumping knee on Moxley and Nightingale hits a spinebuster on Shafir. Moxley and Strickland then exchange right hands, but Moxley cinches in the Bulldog Choke on Strickland. Nightingale then powerbombs Shafir on top of the two men to break the hold, then brawls with Shafir on the outside as Moxley and Strickland exchange strikes in the middle of the ring. Strickland then sets up for House Call on Moxley, but accidentally hits Shafir. Nightingale then sends Moxley crashing through another table set up on the outside, then hits a Doctor Bomb on Shafir for the win.

After the match, Moxley hits a DDT on Nightingale and escapes with Shafir through the crowd.
We then get video footage of Wheeler Yuta defeating Dax Harwood and having a tantrum afterward. We then head to the back, where Dax Harwood apologizes to Paul Turner and pays his $10k fine to him directly. Renee Paquette then asks Dax Harwood if he and Cash Wheeler can put their differences aside and win the trios title. Harwood then apologizes to Wheeler and offers him a hug. Wheeler then refuses the hug and tells Harwood they are still brothers and will be fine on Sunday, but after that they have to talk. Wheeler then walks off and Harwood apologizes to Paquette.
We then get highlights of the first match of the night, including the missed table spot with Nightingale and Moxley. Excalibur then tells us that Nightingale is getting medical attention as we speak and hope to have more information as the night continues.
The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Men’s and Women’s Tournament Brackets are then revealed and we get video footage of Kevin Knight facing Jay White on Collision last week. We are then told the reason Knight, who lost that match, is in the tournament is due to the endorsement White gave him after the match. We are also told the tournaments will start this Sunday at Dynasty, but at the moment we aren’t told which matches it would be. Also, the finals for each tournament will take place at Double or Nothing.
Toni Storm and Luther then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Penelope Ford follows.
The match starts off with both women wasting no time in going after each other. Storm hits a backbreaker on Ford. Storm then hits a suplex on Ford and looks to hit a Hip Attack on her, but Ford moves out of the way and dropkicks Storm onto the apron. Storm then delivers some forearms on Ford.
Ford then hits a handspring back elbow on Storm’s spine in the corner. Storm then bites Ford’s lip, then delivers some right hands on her and hits her with a Thesz Press before delivering more right hands on her and nailing her. Storm then wears down Ford with a submission hold, but Ford grabs onto the bottom rope to break it up. Ford then hits a gutbuster on Storm, but Storm responds with Storm Zero for the win.

After the match, Megan Bayne makes her way out and sarcastically applauds Storm for her win. Bayne then stares down Storm in the ring.
We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette asks Swerve Strickland about Willow Nightingale. Strickland doesn’t really provide a medical update, but he promises revenge by the end of the night on Jon Moxley and references Willow’s history of neck problems.
The Hurt Syndicate’s music then hits and they make their way down to the ring. Bobby Lashley looks to speak, but MJF’s music hits and he makes his way out. MJF then formally introduces himself to Lashley seeing as he doesn’t know him as well as MVP, then says he knows Lashley all too well. MJF then says Lashley knows his way around the block and cards on the table and tells The Hurt Syndicate that they need him. Lashley then says he doesn’t like MJF and The Hurt Syndicate doesn’t need him, then tells him to leave the ring. MJF then obliges and The Hurt Syndicate look to follow him to the back, but Big Bill and Bryan Keith confront Lashley and MVP. The four men then stare each other down as Bill and Keith make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night. Bill and Keith then tell Lashley to sit down and watch them work. We then see a couple of enhancement wrestlers in the ring that didn’t even get introductions.
The match starts off with Bill tossing one of his opponents across the ring. Bill then hits a boot on him, then tosses him out of the ring and tags in Keith. Keith then hits a knee on the other opponent and Bill follows it up with a chokeslam on him for the win.

After the match, Lashley and MVP laughs. Big Bill then says they whooped Top Flight’s ass on Saturday and their ass tonight. Bill then says they will whoop The Hurt Syndicate’s ass at Dynasty and demanded a Tag Team Title Match. MVP then starts to respond, but Lashley stops him and they leave.
We then head to the back, where Mercedes Moné is being interviewed. Moné is asked about her tournament match against Julia Hart. Moné says it will take more than tricks and spells to stop her. Moné then cals herself the greatest TBS Champion of all time. Harley Cameron then walks up to Moné with her Mercedes puppet. Cameron says they can be a dream team and Moné is so disgusted that she walks away. Cameron then says they are the Money Wrath Train.
Will Ospreay and Kevin Knight then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Lee Johnson and Blake Christian follow.
The match starts off with Ospreay and Christian and both men lock up. Ospreay then nails Christian with a shoulder tackle, but Christian returns the favor. Ospreay then hits a hurricanrana on Christian and tags in Knight. Knight and Ospreay then hits double dropkicks on Christian and Johnson that send them crashing out of the ring, then follow it up with double tope suicidas.
Christian then hits a clothesline on Knight inside the ring. Ospreay then tags in and hits a double crossbody on Christian and Johnson. Christian then hits a 450 Splash on Ospreay, then tags in Johnson. Ospreay then hits a Stun-Dog Millionaire on Johnson, then tags in Knight. Christian then gets Knight in an Electric Chair position and Johnson hits him with a dropkick. Knight then responds with a right hand off the top rope on Johnson for the win.
The winners of the Tag Team Match, “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay and Kevin Knight!
After the match, Tony Schiavone announces Will Ospreay vs. Kevin Knight at Dynasty in a Owen Hart Cup tournament match.
The Opps are then shown backstage. Samoa Joe says the nature of the game is changing and he put The Opps together because he needed an arsenal. Joe then says they are looking to expand their influence and warns anyone not to let them catch them slacking.
Brody King then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Lance Archer follows.
The match starts off with both men locking up. Archer then clotheslines King out of the ring, but King places Archer in a chair and hits a crossbody on him. King then sends Archer back inside the ring, but Callis grabs King’s ankle. King then delivers some right and left hands on Archer.
King then hits a low crossbody on Archer and follows it up with a bodyslam. Archer then hits a spinning slam on King, then follows it up with a chokeslam and a cannonball in the corner. King then nails Archer with a clothesline for the win.

After the match, Don Callis checks on Archer while King celebrates. Commentary then runs through the lineup for AEW Dynasty.
Cope then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night and Claudio Castagnoli follows.
The match starts off with Castagnoli going straight after Cope. Castagnoli sends Cope crashing into the barricade shoulder first and sends him back inside the ring, but Cope sends Castagnoli crashing off the apron and into one of the barricades. Cope then sends Castagnoli crashing into another one of the barricades, then deliver some forearms on him. Cope and Castagnoli then continue going back and forth in the ring, but Cope sends Castagnoli crashing into the mat and spears him onto the floor off the apron. Cope then looks to fly out of the ring, but Castagnoli catches him with an uppercut.
Castagnoli then hits a double stomp on Cope and follows it up with The Swing. Cope then responds with a Flatliner on Castagnoli, but Castagnoli cinches in a Sharpshooter on Cope and transitions into a crossface. Cope then reverses it into a crossface of his own, but Castagnoli makes it under the bottom rope to break the hold. Castagnoli then hits a powerslam on Cope on the apron and sends him into the crowd.
Castagnoli then hits a pop-up uppercut on Cope back inside the ring, then follows it up with a Neutralizer and goes for a pin. Cope then kicks out, but Castagnoli grabs two chairs and sets up for the Con-Chair-To. The referee then disposes of the chair, but Cope takes advantage and low blows Castagnoli as he does so. Cope then follows it up with a spear for the win.

After the match, Renee Paquette asks Swerve Strickland backstage about Willow Nightingale, but he cuts her off and says he is looking for her husband. Instead, Strickland is confronted by Hangman Page, who says he is a man of his word and wouldn’t allow him to be World Champion again. Both men then yell at each other about their past and Hangman tells Strickland he deserved it when he burned his house down. Swerve then agrees, which confuses Hangman enough that he just walks away. Moxley and the rest of The Death Riders then ambush Swerve and put him through some glass backstage. They then drag him to the ring and pour out a tin can full of glass. Claudio then hits a powerbomb onto the glass and then Moxley trash talks Swerve before exiting the arena. Swerve then sits up, not bleeding in the slightest and then rises to his feet as Moxley has a look of disbelief on his face and the show comes to a close.
