Steven Borden may not be back in the ring just yet, but there’s at least another encouraging sign in his recovery.
According to PWInsider, Steven Borden was spotted in Cleveland ahead of tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Naturally, that got fans wondering if the second-generation star was gearing up for a surprise appearance after the scary injury he suffered at AEW All Out.
Not so fast. The report says Borden being in town doesn’t necessarily mean he’s returning to TV. AEW regularly brings injured talent to Dynamite tapings so they can meet with company doctors while recovering, and that’s believed to be the reason he’s in Cleveland.
“Several Elite subscribers sent word they saw Steven Borden locally in the area, so he is in town ahead of tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Cleveland. This doesn’t mean he will be appearing, as AEW regularly brings in talents to meet with their medical staff while they are recovering from injuries. It may be he’s there to get checked out after his AEW All Out injury.”
The timing is encouraging, though. Borden hasn’t been seen around AEW since his frightening head injury at All Out forced his match to be stopped, leaving fans and wrestlers worried about his condition.
A few days later, Tony Schiavone shared some good news after speaking with Borden personally. According to Schiavone, Borden said he wasn’t dealing with headaches or dizziness and insisted he was feeling fine. Schiavone also revealed that Borden’s biggest concern after the match wasn’t himself—it was that he thought he’d ruined the pay-per-view.
There’s still no word on when Borden will be medically cleared, and PWInsider stressed that fans shouldn’t assume he’ll appear on Dynamite just because he’s in the building. Still, seeing him back around AEW is another positive sign that his recovery continues to move in the right direction after one of the scariest moments of the year.
