Penelope Ford has been missing from AEW television for months, but she was finally spotted backstage this week. Ford was at the October 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, although there’s still no word on whether she’s getting close to an in-ring return.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson provided the update after being asked what happened to Ford. He confirmed that she’s still sidelined with an injury but revealed that she was backstage at AEW television the previous night.

“She is out with an injury. She was at AEW TV last night but I have not confirmed in what capacity.”

Ford has been out of action since suffering an ankle injury during the February 25 episode of AEW Dynamite in Denver. She was teaming with Megan Bayne against Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship when things went wrong.

The injury happened after Ford hit a moonsault to the outside and landed on her feet. She initially tried to continue but was eventually forced out of the match as the pain got worse, with AEW officials changing the planned finish on the fly.

Bryan Alvarez later reported that Ford had suffered a sprained ankle, which initially sounded like something that wouldn’t keep her out for an extended period. Instead, Ford has remained away from the ring for months, making her appearance backstage at Dynamite particularly notable.

For now, Ford’s presence at AEW television shouldn’t be taken as confirmation that a comeback is right around the corner. Still, after such a lengthy absence, simply knowing she was back around the company gives fans their first meaningful update on her situation in quite some time.

When do you think Penelope Ford will finally make her AEW return, and who would you like to see her face when she’s cleared? Let us know in the comments below.
