Mike Santana may still be signed with TNA, but that hasn’t stopped WWE NXT officials from taking notice—and fast.

Following his strong May 27 debut on NXT against Tavion Heights, it was said that Santana received “high marks” from people within WWE. But now, the internal chatter has only grown louder after his showdown with Trick Williams.

According to an update from PWInsider, there’s been a lot of talk over the last week internally within WWE NXT about the company’s interest in Santana following his back-to-back performances on NXT television.

Santana may still be locked in with TNA through the end of 2025, but WWE sources are said to be increasingly impressed with what he brings to the table—and he’s quickly become a topic of conversation backstage.

Santana recently spoke on Busted Open Radio about his run so far and how WWE has embraced his real persona without forcing him to change.

“A lot of people are playing a character. I’m myself, bro. I’m thankful. I’m thankful that I’ve been able to get this far in my career not having to conform to anything or anybody and being myself. I’m thankful for that. Not a lot of people get to say that. That’s why it’s very important to me. The fact that I went down to WWE and they were so respectful of my authenticity and they were very on board with everything and my presentation and what I was doing and how I was doing it says a lot. It meant a lot.”

If WWE wants Mike Santana, they’re not exactly being subtle about it anymore. With NXT officials openly talking about him backstage and his TNA contract running through the end of the year, it’s only a matter of time before someone makes a move. Santana’s stock is rising fast—and the guy hasn’t even unpacked yet.
