Heels starring Stephen Amell was a big hit with wrestling fans when it came out in 2021 because of its great story and drama. Even though the show was canceled after two seasons, CM Punk has now revealed that he is trying to petition Netflix to make a third season of the show.
While speaking to Deadline, CM Punk revealed he has a few upcoming projects and mentioned that he and others are actively pushing Netflix to greenlight a third season of Heels.
Punk explained that things are much more flexible now compared to earlier in his career, when wrestling took up most of his time and limited his ability to pursue outside ventures. His current contract allows him to work on previously established projects, making it easier to balance commitments.
While he regularly appears on Monday Night Raw, he has the option to step away temporarily for film shoots. Among the projects he’s excited about are a TV series called Revival set to air on Syfy, and a movie titled Night Patrol, a supernatural crime story involving the LAPD, gangs, and vampires, written and directed by Ryan Prows.
“It’s a lot easier now. It was harder back in the day because wrestling was the lion’s share of what I did, and I wasn’t allowed to do other stuff. I have pre-existing relationships and projects I work on that are grandfathered into my contract. I typically do Monday Night Raw live on Netflix every week. But if I need to dip out for two weeks to shoot an independent film, I can always do that.
We’re trying to petition Netflix to do a third season of Heels. I have two projects coming down the line that I’m very excited about. One is the TV show Revival that will air on Syfy, and a really, really fun movie called Night Patrol, written and directed by Ryan Prows. I don’t want to give away too much but it’s night patrol, LAPD, Bloods, Crips, vampires.”
In September 2023, fans were in for a shock as Starz announced the cancellation of Heels after its second season. The decision left viewers frustrated, especially since the series ended on a major cliffhanger.
Even though fans were sad when Heels was canceled, there’s still a bit of hope that Netflix might bring it back. It’s not clear if a third season will happen, but fans are still hoping to see the story continue, especially since CM Punk really wants to make it happen.
