WWE Approached Shane Helms About Returning as The Hurricane

Shane Helms was a highly popular Superstar during the Attitude Era, where he was known as The Hurricane. He’s currently a producer in WWE right now, but it appears Helms has revealed he was approached to return as The Hurricane.

While speaking on Gabby AF, the host told Shane Helms that maybe one day it’s in the cards and written in the stars for him to return to the ring. Helms agreed and stated that he might be starting to get back into spandex shape, something that hadn’t been possible for a while.

Helms revealed a story about how WWE official John Cone once called him about making an appearance fully dressed as The Hurricane. Shane joked that Cone sees him at WWE shows every week and should know he couldn’t fit into that outfit at the time.

Helms laughed about it and told Cone to give him six months to get back into spandex shape before calling again. Shane said that spandex doesn’t lie and joked that it had him looking like a can of busted biscuits.

“Yeah maybe it is. I’m starting to get back into spandex shape now. For a while, it wasn’t even an option. They actually wanted me to do something—you know John Cone, I’m sure you know of him—and he called me about an appearance where I’d be dressed as the Hurricane, head to toe. And I was like, ‘John, you see me at TV every week. You know I can’t fit in that damn outfit.’

It was actually hilarious. I told him, ‘Give me six months to get in spandex shape and then call me again.’ Because spandex don’t lie. That stuff tells the truth. Had me out there looking like a can of busted biscuits.”

The last time fans saw Shane Helms as The Hurricane inside a WWE ring was during the 2021 Royal Rumble, where he had a memorable outing before he was eliminated from the match.

Shane Helms is currently working as a backstage producer in WWE, but his comments hint that he hasn’t completely closed the door on wrestling again or at least returning as The Hurricane for one last appearance. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether The Hurricane returns somewhere down the line.
