Chris Jericho worked for Vince McMahon for many years, so he knows how McMahon acts. Even after Jericho left WWE, they still talked sometimes. With that said, Jericho has now revealed that McMahon once told him to lose weight after Jericho made a comment criticizing WWE.

While speaking during the HRWF 2025 event, Chris Jericho talked about the time when some WWE wrestlers got stuck on a plane in Saudi Arabia. Jericho wasn’t there, but he made a comment online showing support for the wrestlers.

Jericho said it didn’t surprise him that WWE management left on their own plane and left the crew behind. His comment was meant to support his friend, the late Brodie Lee, who was on that trip. Jericho said it was more of a joke and not meant to attack anyone.

“Yeah, it was some kind of thing where—if you guys remember—when some of them all got stuck in Saudi Arabia on the plane, there was some kind of issue where the whole crew got stuck. I wasn’t there, and I made some comment—I can’t remember exactly what it was—but it was something like supporting the locker room. Like, ‘Doesn’t surprise me that they left you behind,’ because they left the guys behind. Vince and the top brass took off in their plane. It was almost like they left the crew as bait so they could escape.

I didn’t even say anything bad. It was just something along the lines of, ‘Well, it’s f***ing typical,’ or whatever it was. And I was actually standing up for Brodie—the late, great Brodie Lee—because he and I were friends and he was there. I said something like, ‘Typical treatment for Brodie Lee,’ or whatever. It was almost more of a joke toward him.”

Despite not working for WWE at the time since he was already with AEW, Jericho received a call from Vince McMahon, who confronted him about the comment, accusing him of speaking badly about WWE. Jericho explained it was about Brodie and asked if Vince had even seen what he wrote. Vince said no, so Jericho sent him a screenshot.

A little while later, Vince McMahon texted back saying he understood, but then told Jericho he needed to lose weight. Jericho laughed it off and said it felt like a childish insult. He even sent Vince a picture showing he had abs, and McMahon replied saying he was just sucking in his stomach.

“Then Vince calls me—and I wasn’t even working there at the time, I was already in AEW—and he goes, ‘Oh, you’re talking bad about us.’ I said, ‘No, it was more just a thing about Brodie Lee. Have you seen it?’ And he says, ‘No.’

I said, ‘Well, I’ll send it to you.’ The whole conversation lasted maybe a minute. So I sent him a picture of what I had written about Brodie and the situation. Then he texts me back and goes, ‘All right, I see what you’re saying. By the way, you need to lose weight.’

It was almost like one of those schoolyard things where someone says, ‘Well, f*** you, four eyes,’ and the other replies, ‘Yeah, well you deserve it, brace face.’ So I’m like, ‘Lose weight? What? I took a picture—like, I’ve got abs.’ And he goes, ‘You can quit sucking your stomach in.'”

Chris Jericho is talking about the time in 2019 when several WWE Superstars were left stranded in Saudi Arabia, something that genuinely angered a lot of people. Regardless, this strange situation shows how childish Vince McMahon can be when he feels insulted. Instead of having a real conversation, he quickly got upset over a small comment Jericho made and even threw in a random insult about Jericho’s weight and fans aren’t surprised by this at all.
