Lexis King debuted in WWE in October 2023 with a completely different look from his time in AEW. His entrance includes a sliding throne that he sits on, which fans really enjoy. That being said, the scrapped plans for his entrance on NXT television have been revealed.

While speaking on the No Contest Wrestling podcast, Lexis King talked about the original plans for his NXT entrance that didn’t happen. He admitted that while he would love to take credit for the throne idea, it was entirely a WWE production decision. He stated that head coach Matt Bloom was the first to tell him about it.

Originally, the plan was for King to be carried out on a throne by a group of women, which he thought was a perfect fit for his “King” character. However, on the day of the show, production realized that carrying him would be too difficult. To adjust, a crew member suggested putting the throne on wheels and rolling it out instead.

The team spent the day figuring out the logistics, eventually settling on a simple wheeled platform that was pulled by crew members. With added fog effects, the final presentation still looked great, even though it wasn’t what they first planned.

“I’m not here to tell you—I would love to say that the throne was my idea, but no, that was 100% a WWE production call. I want to say it was Matt Bloom, the head coach, because he was the first person to tell me about it.

The way he pitched it, he was like, ‘We got an idea for you, Lexus. We’re going to have this throne, and we’re going to have a bunch of smoke shows, and they’re going to carry you out on the throne.’ And I’m thinking, ‘Wow, I hit the freaking jackpot. I got the name King, I got all the hot girls carrying me out on the throne.’

Then we get to the day of the show, and they’re like, ‘Ah, it’s going to be hard for these girls to carry you out there, so we’re going to have to figure out another way to get you to come out.’ And then one of the production guys was like, ‘Oh, why don’t we just throw it on some wheels and roll him out?’

So we spent the day figuring out how it would work—how we were going to get the wheels. And it’s not like some advanced technology; it’s literally just on wheels. Then there are a few guys on the other end that just pull it. But it comes out great, and then you add the fog in there, and it looks amazing.”

Although the original plan didn’t happen, Lexis King’s final entrance has been a big hit with fans. His wheeled throne, along with the dramatic fog effects, makes him look even more impressive in NXT and we’ll have to see if WWE will end up changing his presentation again in the future.
