Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts has been associated with AEW since 2020 and many felt he was a solid part of AEW programming during his early run in the company. Interestingly enough, he is still part of the WWE 2K games despite being part of AEW and he has now explained why that’s the case.
While speaking on The Snake Pit podcast, Jake Roberts revealed how he remains in WWE’s video games while working for AEW. He explained that he wanted to keep his WWE Legends contract and informed AEW about it. AEW made it clear they had no issue with him maintaining the deal.
When he approached WWE about working for AEW, they also approved as they recognized the financial benefits of continuing to feature him in their games. This arrangement allows Roberts to stay involved with both companies in different ways.
“Well, I’m special. It’s a situation where I’m going to work for AEW, and I’d like to keep my legends contract. I told AEW that I was going to try to keep it. They said, ‘Fine, do it.’ So when I went to WWE, I told them I was going to work for AEW, and they gave me their blessing. Let’s face it, they still want to make money off of me.”
Jack Roberts also confirmed that he signed another one-year deal with AEW last year, so he will remain with AEW for a while longer. Whether he remains a long-term part of AEW or eventually returns to WWE in some capacity isn’t known, but fans who will purchase WWE 2K25 this year will get to lay as the legendary wrestler once again and that’s what matters to fans at the moment.
