CM Punk has been on a tear since his return at the 2023 Survivor Series Premium Live Event and fans never stop chanting his name no matter what. However, Punk has now admitted that fans chanting for him might be a big reason why many WWE stars don’t even like him.

While speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, CM Punk admits that many WWE Superstars don’t like him because fans continue to chant his name. He finds it strange that people still remember him after being gone for 10 years, despite hearing the chants. He wonders if his past work truly resonated and acknowledges that he clearly made people feel something.

Punk also points out that when other wrestlers are in the ring and fans chant for him, he can see their frustration. Many of them dislike him because they spent years holding things down, only for the crowd to chant for someone who wasn’t even there. He understands that it must be disheartening for them.

“There’s still a huge part of me that’s like, ‘Oh, they remember me. That’s strange.’ When you’re gone for 10 years, even though they chant your name, you wonder if the stuff you did prior to all that mattered—did it resonate? Obviously, I made people feel something.

When other Superstars are in the ring and your name is getting chanted, I can see the joy getting sucked out of their bodies. Yeah, they hate it. And for the longest time, that’s honestly the reason why a lot of them don’t like me. Because they were here, holding it down for so long, and they’re like, ‘Every time we go out there and bust our ass, they just chant for a guy who’s not even here.’ That’s gotta suck, man. That’s disheartening.”

CM Punk is focused on making his mark in WWE again, and with WrestleMania 41 approaching, he remains one of the company’s biggest stars. With the Royal Rumble 2025 set for February 1st, Punk has the perfect opportunity to silence his critics and prove he’s still a top-tier competitor. Fans will have to wait and see if this is the year he finally wins the match.
