At the WrestleMania 40 kickoff press event, things got tense when Cody Rhodes picked Roman Reigns as his opponent and insulted The Bloodline. This made The Rock slap Cody in the face, leading to a heated argument. Later backstage, The Rock cussed out Triple H during an interview, and now Jackie Redmond has revealed she didn’t expect The Rock to cuss out The Game at all.
While speaking during a recent episode of the Lightweights podcast with Joe Vulpis, Jackie Redmond talked about her experience backstage at the press conference and her interview with Triple H. She said she didn’t know that The Rock would get involved and make things more chaotic, causing a big scene.
“The biggest trip I’ve had, or the most surreal moment, I guess, was interviewing Triple H at the end of the WrestleMania kickoff last year, after the Cody slap. When The Rock came out and started dropping F-bombs, I had no idea what was going to happen. It wasn’t like they told me, ‘Hey, you’re going to interview Paul and all of this is going to happen.'”
Redmond thought her interview with Triple H would just be a simple wrap-up of the event. She was told halfway through the kickoff that she would interview him to discuss how the event ended and the excitement for WrestleMania.
However, after seeing the chaos on stage, she realized there was a lot more to talk about. She didn’t expect The Rock to interrupt the interview, get angry, and drop f-bombs on Triple H. Redmond wasn’t sure if the two would get physical, wondering if there would be more slapping or even a fight.
“I wasn’t doing anything, and then halfway through the kickoff, I found out, ‘Hey, we think, when this is all over—because it’s a big deal for us—you should interview Hunter about the event, how it ended, and the excitement for WrestleMania.’
So I went into it thinking it was just going to be kind of like a capper, and then obviously I saw what went down on stage. I was like, ‘Okay, well, there’s something to talk about here, clearly.’ But never in a million years did I know that The Rock was not only going to interrupt but also be pissed the F off. I was like, ‘Are they going to throw down right now?’ I was so glad I was getting a front row seat if that was the case. I was thinking, ‘Are they going to throw hands? Is there going to be more slapping? What’s happening?'”
This shows just how unpredictable professional wrestling can be, and Jackie Redmond was certainly happy to be along for the ride, no matter what happened. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see if the Road to WrestleMania 41 will be as chaotic as it was for WrestleMania 40, as Jackie Redmond is certainly ready for anything now.
