WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Results (12/14/2024):

The show opens up with Joe Tessitore welcoming us, while we get a shot of the New York skyline followed by a shot of the host venue. Fans were then shown outside the building, while Tessitore says there is a retro feel with new age superstars. We then see an older television showing us highlights of classic Saturday Night’s Main Event shows. Animotion’s “Obsession” then plays as the background music for the opening video package.

Pyro then shoots off and Tessitore speaks, while we see the arrivals of Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, “The Prize Fighter” Kevin Owens, several Judgment Day members, Damage CTRL, Damian Priest and Imperium’s WWE World Heavyweight Champion “The Ring General” GUNTHER.

Jesse Ventura is then introduced and he joins Tessitore at a podium that was set up off the main floor. Ventura says it has been 40 years since he was in WWE and now The Body is back in WWE. Ventura then questions whether Cody is actually the son of Dusty Rhodes and then compares the difference in their abdominal muscles. Ventura then says Cody will end up like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. Tessitore then throws it over to Michael Cole at ringside.

Pat McAfee then makes his way down to the ring, while Michael Cole speaks. McAfee slaps hands with fans and then greets Cole, who notes that they will be together when RAW debuts on Netflix on January 6th. McAfee then says it is an honor to be there live on NBC. Cole then says live from New York and McAfee adds it’s Saturday Night Main Event.

Drew McIntyre then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night, while we get video footage from RAW of Sami Zayn touting the match, being attacked by McIntyre and then brawling with McIntyre backstage. Sami Zayn then makes his way down to the ring.

Singles Match: “The Scottish Warrior” Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn

The match starts off with Sami Zayn attacking Drew McIntyre right away, but McIntyre responds with a chop. Zayn then hits McIntyre with a number of punches, then follows it up with a clothesline. Zayn then hits an Arabian press on McIntyre to the outside. Zayn then goes for another dive, but McIntyre catches him. McIntyre then tosses Zayn over the commentary desk. McIntyre then works over Zayn and Zayn fires up. McIntyre then misses a spear in the corner. Zayn then sets up for the Helluva Kick. McIntyre then counters with a big boot. McIntyre then hits Zayn with a sit-out powerbomb and goes for a pin, but Zayn kicks out. McIntyre then carries Zayn up top, but Zayn reverses it into a sunset flip powerbomb. Zayn then goes for a pin, but McIntyre kicks out. McIntyre then hits a Glasgow kiss on Zayn and calls for the Claymore. Zayn then counters McIntyre with a big boot. Zayn then hits McIntyre wit a blue thunder bomb and goes for a pin, but McIntyre kicks out. McIntyre then slips out of the ring to avoid a Helluva Kick and Zayn follows. McIntyre then rolls back in. As soon as Zayn rolls back into the ring, McIntyre hits him with a Claymore for the win.

We then see Damage CTRL walking backstage followed by WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan walking backstage with Raquel Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio.

We then get a brief clip hyping Monday Night RAW debuting on Netflix on January 6th.

Michael Cole then says there are 14,186 fans in attendance. We then see WWE Hall of Famers Tito Santana and Jimmy Hart in the crowd as well as Warrior Award winner Rich Hering. Cole then explains that Hering is a key player behind the scenes in WWE.

Damage CTRL then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and we get a video package to set up the Women’s World Championship Match. WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan then makes her way down to the ring with Raquel Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio.

WWE Women’s World Championship Match: The Judgment Day’s Liv Morgan (c) vs. Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY

The match starts off with Liv Morgan and IYO SKY trading strikes. The fight then spills out to the apron. SKY then goes for a German suplex. Morgan then escapes and sets up for a sunset flip powerbomb. SKY then holds on to the apron and hits a PK on Morgan. SKY then hits an Asai moonsault on Morgan. SKY then sends Morgan out of the ring. SKY then hits a suicide dive on Morgan and follows it up with a springboard dropkick. SKY then goes for a pin, but Morgan kicks out at two. SKY then misses a knee strike in the corner and Morgan hits SKY with a backstabber. Morgan then hits SKY with a code breaker from the middle rope, then goes for a pin but SKY kicks out. SKY then goes behind Morgan and hits her with three consecutive German suplexes. SKY then hits a knee strike on Morgan and Morgan responds with and Enziguiri. SKY then hits Morgan with a crossface and Morgan rolls out of the ring. SKY then sends Morgan into the corner. SKY then hits a Bullet Train attack on Morgan and goes up top for the Over the Moonsault. Morgan then gets her boots up and hits SKY with the Oblivion for the win.

After the match, Michael Cole questions if Liv Morgan suffered a broken nose and then we get a replay of the knee strike that SKY hit her with. Morgan is about to leave with the rest of The Judgment Day when Rhea Ripley’s entrance music hits. Ripley then makes her way out and goes face to face with Morgan as Morgan holds her championship high in air.

We then see a tale of the tape for GUNTHER, Damian Priest and Finn Bálor that shows their height, weight and accolades.

John Cena’s appearance at the Elimination Chamber PLE in Toronto is then hyped in a video package and by the commentary team.

Finn Bálor then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Damian Priest and “The Ring General” GUNTHER follows.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat Match: Imperium’s “The Ring General” GUNTHER (c) vs. The Judgment Day’s WWE World Tag Team Champion Finn Bálor vs. Damian Priest

The match starts off with all three men trades shots. Bálor is then sent out of the ring. Priest then sends GUNTHER out to the apron. GUNTHER then tumbles out to the floor. Priest then hits a dive on GUNTHER. GUNTHER then hits a boot on Bálor and Priest in the face. GUNTHER then misses a chop. Bálor then hits an overhead kick. Priest then nails Bálor and GUNTHER with a double clothesline. Priest then does an Old School into a splash. Priest then hits Bálor with a leaping flatliner and goes for a pin, but Bálor kicks out. Bálor then hits a sling blade on both Priest and GUNTHER. Priest then sends Bálor out of the ring. GUNTHER then locks in a sleeper on Priest. Priest then fights out of it and hits the South of Heaven on GUNTHER. Bálor then grabs Priest and hits him with the final cut. Bálor then hits Priest with the John Woo dropkick and sets up for his Coup De Grace finisher. GUNTHER then crotches Bálor on the top rope. GUNTHER then sets up for a superplex. Priest then hits GUNTHER with a Razor’s Edge off the top rope. Bálor then dives off the top and hits his Coup De Grace finisher. Priest then breaks up the pin. Priest and GUNTHER then brawl outside of the ring. GUNTHER then powerbombs Priest on the ring steps. GUNTHER then rolls back in the ring and powerbombs Bálor for the win.

After the match, GUNTHER stands tall and celebrates his win by raising his title over his head.

Kevin Owens is then shown backstage. We then see a crew member knock on SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis’ office door and Aldis emerges from his office holding the Women’s United States Championship belt.

Joe Tessitore and Jesse Ventura then speaks from the elevated platform off the main floor. Ventura says he loves Liv Morgan because she took a shot to the head that would have stopped any normal person and she still won the match. Ventura then says that Dominik he can pick women can’t he. Ventura then tells the fans that wrestling is even bigger today than it was 40 years ago. Ventura then tells the fans they should be proud of that. Tessitore then turns things over to Cole and McAfee, who speaks at their desk for a moment. Cole says he had a chance to work with Gorilla Monsoon early in his career and tonight it comes full circle by working with Ventura.

We then get the entrances of the next match of the night, which is the WWE Women’s United States Championship Tournament Finals Match.

WWE Women’s United States Championship Tournament Finals Match: Chelsea Green vs. Michin

The match starts off with Michin and Chelsea Green trading strikes and takedowns. Green then avoids a hip toss from Michin and sends her out of the ring. Michin then gets to her feet. Green then sets up a dive, but gets stopped by a slap to the face from Michin. Green then distracts the referee as Piper Niven hits Michin with a Blackhole Slam. Green then goes for the rough rider, but Michin counters with a powerbomb. Michin then hits Green with a Tornado DDT and goes for a pin, but Green kicks out. After a series of reversals, Green hits the rough rider on Michin for a near fall. Green then goes for a dive, but Michin moves out of the way and Green takes out Niven. Michin then hits Niven with Eat Defeat. Michin then hits Green with Eat Defeat and Green gets her foot on the bottom rope. Green then goes up top and Niven hops on the apron. Michin then dropkicks Niven off the apron. Green then grabs Michin and hits her with the Un-Pretty-Her for the win.

After the match, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis makes his way down to the ring and puts the championship around Green’s waist. Niven then puts Green on her shoulder and then pyro shoots off behind them. Cole then says it is seven years to the day that Green won her first championship.

Michael Cole then hypes the main event coming up next.

We then see a video touting RAW’s move to Netflix on January 6th. Cole then hypes the RAW on Netflix Kickoff Show for Wednesday at 1CT/2ET at WWE Headquarters. The event will stream on WWE’s YouTube page.

WWE Hall of Famers Koko B. Ware and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine are then shown in the crowd.

Jesse Ventura then joins Michael Cole and Pat McAfee at the commentary desk. Cole and McAfee stands up and applauds Ventura. Ventura then congratulates them for their cushy, high paying jobs and asks who paved the way for them. Cole and McAfee then both say Ventura did. McAfee then did his telestrator bit for a still shot of Tessitore and Ventura from earlier in the night. Ventura then claims he stole Jake Roberts’ snake Damien and used him for the jacket he is wearing.

We then get a video package of the main event and Kevin Owens makes his way down to the ring.

We then get a shot of River Walk in San Antonio, Texas, while Cole hypes that the next SNME show will take place at Frost Bank Center on January 25th.

Cody Rhodes then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night. Cody shows off the Winged Eagle title belt around his waist. Cole says the belt was designed by Reggie Parks and was worn by Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 3 and replaced in 1998 when Steve Austin won the title.

Undisputed WWE Championship Match: “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes (c) vs. “The Prize Fighter” Kevin Owens

The match starts off with Cody Rhodes charging at Kevin Owens. Owens then rolls out of the ring. Rhodes then hits a dive on Owens. Owens then sends Rhodes into the ring post. Owens then suplexes Rhodes on the commentary desk ala Randy Orton. Owens then hit a Swanton for a near fall. Rhodes then comes back and hits a Bionic Elbow. Rhodes then hits Owens with a Disaster Kick and covers him for a two count. Both men then end up at ringside. Owens then superkicks Rhodes and clears the commentary desk. Owens then gets Rhodes on the commentary desk and but Rhodes hits him with an RKO. Rhodes then sends Owens back inside the ring and then climbs up the ropes and hist a Cody Cutter for a near fall. Both men then end up on the ropes. Owens then gets the better of the fight and hits a fisherman’s buster for a two count. Owens then kicks Rhodes and sets up for the Stunner, but Rhodes counters into a position for the CrossRhodes. Owens then shoves Rhodes into the referee, knocking referee Charles Robinson out of the ring. Owens then hits Rhodes with a Stunner and bet the referee is down. Eddie Orengo then makes his way out as the second referee and counts the pin, but Rhodes kicks out at two. Rhodes then rallies and goes for a Cody Cutter, but Owens moves and Rhodes crashes into Orengo. Owens then goes to ringside and returns with a chair. Rhodes then avoids a chair shot and hits Owens with a Cody Cutter. Rhodes then follows it up with CrossRhodes onto the chair. Referee Charles Robinson then stands up and counts the pin for the win.

After the match, Jesse Ventura points out that Cody Rhodes used the chair, not Owens. We then get highlights of the finish. Cody Rhodes then stands on the ropes and holds up the Winged Eagle Championship belt. Jesse Ventura then says it was his pleasure to be on the show and he can’t wait for San Antonio. Cody Rhodes then continues to celebrate, while the executive producers credits were shown. Cody Rhodes then kisses the mat and then waves to the crowd as the show comes to a close.
