The Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, are headed back to NJPW to battle for the prestigious IWGP Tag Team Championships.
Following the shocking news that the titles have been vacated due to HENARE’s knee injury, the Bucks will take on Great-O-Khan and a mystery partner at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5, 2025, at the Tokyo Dome.
The decision to vacate the titles came after HENARE, who won the belts alongside Great-O-Khan on November 4, 2024, at NJPW Power Struggle, was sidelined with a right knee injury. This unexpected turn left Great-O-Khan without his partner but not without a fight. O-Khan has vowed to compete for the titles with a new partner, responding to the Young Bucks’ challenge from earlier in the World Tag League tour.
Per NJPW’s statement: “A change to the originally announced card has had to be implemented as the right knee injury to HENARE means he and Great-O-Khan have been forced to vacate the IWGP Tag Team titles. O-Khan has insisted to reply to the Young Bucks’ challenge from earlier in the World Tag League tour however, and there will be a match to determine new IWGP Tag champions.”
With the titles now up for grabs, the Tokyo Dome crowd is guaranteed an unforgettable showdown. The Young Bucks are no strangers to NJPW gold and are ready to add another championship reign to their already legendary resume. Meanwhile, speculation is running wild over who will join Great-O-Khan in this pivotal match.
Wrestle Dynasty promises to be one of NJPW’s biggest events of the year, and this bout could steal the show. With one of the most decorated tag teams in wrestling history facing the unpredictable challenge of O-Khan and his mystery partner, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
