Tony Khan first introduced the WrestleDream event in honor of Antonio Inoki after his passing in 2022. This year’s WrestleDream event took place at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington, featuring several matches with significant stakes, including the AEW World Tag Team Titles.
The Young Bucks and Private Party have a history, as Brother Zay and Quen previously defeated the Jackson Brothers. This past victory earned Private Party a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles. The Jacksons, however, were not planning to go easy on them and aimed to retain their titles.
Before Private Party made their entrance, a video aired featuring Amazing Red giving them a pep talk, encouraging them to get serious. The Young Bucks also grabbed a microphone before the match, telling Private Party they would always be mid-carders.
The match began with a brawl on the entrance ramp before Quen climbed to the top and hit a dive on the Bucks. This got a reaction from the Tacoma crowd.
Once the teams made their way to the ring, the match officially began. The Young Bucks took control and slowed the pace. The camera repeatedly cut to Stokely Hathaway at ringside, visibly upset after Private Party recently rejected his offer to manage them.
The match continued with Nick and Zay battling in the ring and on the outside, where Zay hit a reverse hurricanrana on Matt Jackson, followed by a Canadian Destroyer and a splash from Quen off the barricade. The referee began counting as all four men were down.
They returned to the ring, and Matt and Zay resumed their battle, with Matt hitting a kick to the head before landing a cutter off the top rope for a two-count. Quen disrupted a TK Driver, and Zay rolled up Matt for another two-count.
Private Party hit a Gin & Juice on Nick Jackson for a close near fall. The crowd chanted for Private Party as they landed Superkicks on the Young Bucks, followed by a More Bang For Your Buck, which also resulted in a near fall.
The Young Bucks hit an EVP Trigger, but it only got another near fall. They then attempted a second EVP Trigger on Zay, but he moved, causing the Bucks to kick each other. Zay rolled up Matt for a near fall, but Matt quickly responded with a TK Driver, securing the win for the Young Bucks.
