The NXT tag team division is packed with great teams, and two of them squared off in the tag team title match at Heatwave. The fans were energetic all night and fully invested as the champions took on Chase U.

Nathan Frazer and Axiom defended their NXT Tag Team Titles against Chase University (Andre Chase and Duke Hudson), with Riley Osborne and Thea Hail accompanying them. This match was the penultimate event of the night.

Tensions between Axiom and Frazer had been rising recently. Frazer, who was also the NXT Heritage Cup champion, lost the cup to Tony D’Angelo after Axiom criticized him for not focusing on their tag team reign. They entered Heatwave against a Chase University team that had been strengthening its bond in recent weeks.

Frazer’s late arrival at the event further strained his relationship with Axiom. Additionally, Chase U member Ridge Holland couldn’t attend but FaceTimed the team during the kickoff show to wish them luck.

The match featured numerous near falls as Chase U skillfully evaded Frazer and Axiom’s attacks. The crowd supported both teams, cheering throughout the contest.

At one point, Frazer accidentally kicked Axiom, nearly resulting in a pinfall, but Axiom managed to kick out. In the end, Axiom delivered the Golden Ratio to Andre Chase, securing the victory.

Despite their differences, Frazer and Axiom managed to retain their titles at Heatwave. It remains to be seen how long they can stay united, but they succeeded in Toronto.
