Rollins tore his meniscus back in January but decided against immediate surgery at the time. He then underwent the necessary surgical procedure and finally returned on the June 17th edition of Monday Night RAW. With that said, it appears he only had a few weeks’ notice before his return.

Seth Rollins made a surprising return to WWE Raw on the June 17th episode, marking his first appearance since suffering an injury at WrestleMania 40. While speaking with Matt Aguilar of ComicBook Nation, Rollins talked about the circumstances surrounding his return and the factors that influenced it.

Rollins revealed that his comeback was planned a few weeks in advance, with the timeline of his recovery and the current storylines in mind. Rollins also acknowledged the depth of talent at the top of the Raw card, noting the presence of stars like Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, Gunther, Rey Mysterio, and the Judgment Day faction. Rollins mentioned that it was a matter of finding the right moment and storyline to re-enter.

“A little fluctuation. I had a few weeks notice. We kind of looked at the timeline of the injury and looked at the stories and where I fell back into place. You never really know how things are going to go. The top of the card here on Raw is stacked. You have guys like Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre, CM Punk whenever he is around and able, Gunther waiting in the wings, Rey Mysterio, Judgment Day. It’s stacked. It was interesting to see where I could slide in. The time felt right. Coming off Clash at the Castle, it was ripe for the picking. Damian Priest needed a challenger, so I hopped right in.”

Seth Rollins is set to make his return to the ring at WWE Money in the Bank, where he will challenge Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Fans are eagerly anticipating this matchup, as Rollins aims to reclaim his position as the top dog on Monday Night RAW, so we’ll have to see if that will happen in the end.
