Adam Copeland joined AEW to begin a new chapter in his wrestling career, potentially nearing the end of his impressive run. He gave an emotional promo about AEW following CM Punk’s MMA Hour interview, and he has since shared who first came up with the idea for his move to AEW.

In the interview, Punk didn’t mince words when assessing Khan’s leadership, suggesting that Khan’s amiable nature may be detriment to the company’s success. Punk’s blunt assessment, labeling Khan as “not a boss,” stirred controversy within the wrestling community and raised questions about the internal dynamics of AEW.

“He’s not a boss. He’s a nice guy. And I think ultimately that is a detriment to the company. But it’s not my company. I’m an outsider.”

Immediately after the interview, Adam Copeland would cut passionate promo about loving professional wrestling on a previous episode of AEW Dynamite, as he seemingly responded to CM Punk’s remarks.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Adam Copeland was asked whose idea it was for him to go out and cut that promo. Copeland revealed that it was his idea and not Tony Khan’s idea.

”That was a me idea, just because…you start to see and here. Admittedly, I’ll just see little clips here and there. But even in just a little clip, I’m like man we gotta try and throw some positivity around here because there’s so much negative crap. I do think there’s just a small outlier of fanbase that really gets wrapped up in that.”

Adam Copeland also couldn’t care less about CM Punk’s anti-AEW remarks. Nonetheless, we will have to wait and see how he will continue to be booked as the TNT Champion, as fans want him to wrestle as much as possible till his retirement
