Chris Jericho is widely known in the wrestling community for his generosity in elevating other talent. Nonetheless, he is aware of how there is a section of fans who want instant gratification from storylines and he recently decided to call them out.

In recent weeks, Chris Jericho has aligned himself with Hook, a rising star in AEW, seeing significant potential in the young wrestler. However, Hook didn’t appreciate Jericho’s attempts to mentor him, leading Jericho to challenge Hook to a match at AEW Dynasty with the FTW Championship on the line.

At the pay-per-view, Jericho faced a hostile crowd who chanted for him to retire. Despite the negative reception, Jericho defeated Hook to become the new FTW Champion, adding another accolade to his storied career.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Jericho addressed this impatience among wrestling fans. He mentioned that many fans want to know everything upfront, rather than letting the storyline evolve over time. He emphasized that while fans consider themselves knowledgeable, they often don’t understand the intricacies of long-term booking:

“I think a lot of people … want to know everything all upfront. Just sit back. We do have long-term story ideas and thoughts and plans. … As knowledgeable as fans think they are at times, they still really don’t know.”

Jericho further explained that wrestling storylines vary in length and complexity, with some lasting a month and others stretching for six months or even a year:

“That’s how you tell great stories. Some of them are a month long, some of them are six months long, some of them are a year long. That’s just how it goes in wrestling.”

Nevertheless, Le Champion is currently focused on his upcoming match against Katsuyori Shibata on AEW Dynamite this week, where he will put his FTW Championship on the line in a highly anticipated matchup.
