It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means! AEW Dynamite will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the April 24, 2024 episode.

AEW Dynamite Results (4/24/2024):

The show opens up with Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone welcoming us. The Elite (AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada) are then shown arriving in the arena in one vehicle, while “The Scapegoat” Jack Perry is shown arriving in the arena in another vehicle. They then walk into the building together, but security arrives to try and keep Perry from entering. Matthew and Nicholas then force the security to back down and say Perry is with them.

“Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy’s music then hits and he is thrown through the entrance ramp by Trent Beretta. Beretta then continues beating Cassidy down all the way to the ring. Beretta then grabs a mic and calls Chuck Taylor down to the ring. Taylor then appears and Beretta apologizes to him. Beretta tells Taylor he is sorry for not turning on Cassidy earlier and the two of them did everything for Cassidy, while he did nothing for them. Beretta then tells Taylor that Cassidy is not his friend and that he loves him. Beretta then tells Taylor to do the right thing and give the people what they want. Taylor and Beretta are then about to hug, but Taylor stops before they do. Taylor then calls Beretta a piece of s*** and says he doesn’t want to fight him in the ring. Taylor then says he wants to fight Beretta in the parking lot. Taylor then checks on Cassidy, while Beretta leaves through the crowd.

We then head to the back, where IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley says people shouldn’t underestimate his opponent later tonight, who is none other than Powerhouse Hobbs. Moxley then says he knows what’s at stake tonight and all he needs to do is make one mistake and everything he has could come crashing down. Moxley then says he knows the Don Callis Family put a hit on his friend and knows what it takes to get the job done. Moxley then says tonight will suck and he is going to take a beating, but this is the greatest sport in the world and tonight he will remind everyone exactly why and they all will know from Jacksonville to Tokyo.

We then get the entrances of the first match of the night, which is an AEW World Championship Eliminator Match.

AEW World Championship Eliminator Match: AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland vs. ROH World TV Champion Kyle Fletcher

The match starts off with Fletcher pinning Strickland, but Strickland kicks out. Strickland then wears down Fletcher with a submission and Fletcher responds with a forearm on Strickland. Strickland then hits Fletcher with a kick on his face, then climbs to the middle rope and blasts Fletcher with an elbow to the back of his neck. Fletcher then hits Strickland with a running kick on the apron that sends him crashing to the outside, but Strickland responds with a back body drop on Fletcher on the outside.

Strickland then hits Fletcher with a backbreaker. Fletcher then responds with a superkick as we see The Elite enter the office of Tony Khan. Strickland then hits Fletcher with a neckbreaker on the apron, then follows it up with a double stomp off the top rope. Strickland then hits Fletcher with a kick, but Fletcher puts Strickland in a modified Ankle Lock. Strickland then escapes the hold, but Fletcher hits Strickland with a series of kicks on his chest. Strickland then catches one, delivers some strikes on Fletcher and hits him with an arm drag. Strickland then hits Fletcher with a flatliner and a brainbuster before both men take turns trying to send each other crashing into the mat. Fletcher then sends Strickland crashing into the mat and both men teeter on the top rope. Strickland then hits Fletcher with a double stomp, then follows it up with a House Call for the win.

Excalibur then tells us that Kenny Omega will return next week when Dynamite takes place from Winnipeg.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is with Thunder Rosa. Rosa says she is not going to make excuses for losing at the PPV, but lists the things that went wrong for her. Deonna Purrazzo then enters and they have a shoving match, with security separating them.

We then get a video package highlighting the match between Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Danielson from AEW Dynasty.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.

Singles Match: Mina Shirakawa vs. Anna Jay

The match starts off with Jay hitting Shirakawa with a boot to the side of her head. Shirakawa then hits a dropkick on Jay’s spine, then drives her ankle into the mat. Shirakawa then sends Jay crashing into the mat, then continues wearing down her ankle. Jay then rakes Shirakawa’s eye, then follows it up with a neckbreaker using the middle rope.

Shirakawa and Jay then exchange forearms in the center of the ring. Jay then continues with more forearms on Shirakawa, but Shirakawa nails Jay and follows it up with a back elbow. Shirakawa then hits Jay with a knee off the top rope, but Jay responds with a kick on Shirakawa’s head. Jay then hits Shirakawa with Gory Buster and Shirakawa responds with a Dragon Screw on Jay. Shirakawa then climbs to the top rope and hits a missile dropkick on Jay, then follows it up with an enzuigiri. Jay then puts Shirakawa in a Queenslayer, but Shirakawa escapes and transitions into a pin for the win.

After the match, Mariah May looks to celebrate Shirakawa’s win with champagne, but Anna Jay blindsides Shirakawa and puts her in a Queenslayer. AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm’s music then hits and she makes her way down to the ring to even the odds, but Serena Deeb’s music hits and she appears, sitting on the steps next to Storm’s AEW Women’s World Championship.

Stokely Hathaway and Kris Statlander are shown waiting in the ring. Hathaway starts off by saying we are here for a Willow Nightingale TBS Championship celebration. Kris Statlander then says some kind things about Nightingale and Hathaway brings Willow out. Hathaway admits that when they first started this journey, he didn’t like Nightingale and Nightingale says she didn’t like him either, but they’ve ended up becoming good friends. Nightingale then says she started with AEW in Daily’s Place just trying to get an opportunity and now she stands in front of everyone as the TBS Champion.

Mercedes Moné’s music then hits and she makes her way down to the ring. Moné starts off by telling Jacksonville to say hello to their CEO. Nightingale then says this is the fourth time that Moné has interrupted her and this is her time now. Moné then says she is just out there to congratulate Nightingale on her title win and to inform her that she is going to be the new TBS Champion at Double or Nothing. Moné then says while she is out there, she wants to know if Willow was the one who attacked her a few weeks ago. Multiple women are then blamed and nothing gets revealed. Nightingale then says she wants to know if Moné blames her for injuring her in their match at New Japan last year.

Moné doesn’t come out and say it, but she pretty much confirms it. Nightingale then says she admits she wondered if she could beat Moné at 100% and knows that her win over her has an asterisk on it. Nightingale then says there was no asterisk on her win at Dynasty. Moné then says to enjoy it while it lasts because she is taking that title at the PPV. Moné then tries to walk away, but Statlander grabs her to spin her around. Mercedes then thinks it is Nightingale and she slaps her. This then turns into a pull-apart to end the segment.

We then head to the back, where The Elite comes out of Tony Khan’s locker room. Alex Marvez then tries to find out if Jack Perry is back in AEW. He is not given an answer, but Matthew Jackson tells him that Tony Khan has agreed to meet Jack Perry in the ring later on tonight.

We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Casino Gauntlet Match.

Casino Gauntlet Match

The match starts off with “Switchblade” Jay White and Dante Martin. White hits Martin with a chop and both men begin brawling on the outside. White then suplexes Martin out of the ring. Penta El Zero Miedo then makes his way down to the ring and Penta hits White with a splash off the top rope. Penta then hits White with a Sling Blade and begins going after Martin. Kyle O’Reilly then enters the match and hits White, Martin and Penta with kicks. O’Reilly then kicks Penta and Martin’s arm off his shoulder and slaps White. O’Reilly then trips White and puts Martin in an Arm Bar, but White breaks the hold.

Will Ospreay’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Ospreay then stares O’Reilly down and both men exchange forearms with each other. Ospreay then hits a forearm off the top rope, then delivers a couple of springboard kicks on Martin and Penta. Ospreay and White then come face-to-face and White hits Ospreay with chops. Ospreay then hits White with a Spanish Fly before Lance Archer makes his way down to the ring. Ospreay then hits Archer with forearm shots, then levels everyone inside the ring. Penta then goes after Archer, but Archer hits him with a shoulder tackle. O’Reilly then puts Archer in a Sleeper, but Archer responds with a suplex. Archer then gets Ospreay up above his head and sends him out of the ring on top of everyone.

Komander makes his way down to the ring next and he hits Archer with a hurricanrana through the table set up on the outside. Komander then hits a DDT on Ospreay and goes for a pin, but White kicks out. Jay Lethal makes his way down to the ring next and he hits Ospreay with a dropkick. Lethal then hits a flatliner on Martin, then follows it up with the Lethal Injection on Penta. White then hits a Snap Dragon Suplex, but Martin responds with a dropkick off the top rope. Ospreay then blasts him, but O’Reilly hits him with an Arm Bar. Komander then breaks the hold with a Shooting Star Press and pins O’Reilly, but Ospreay breaks the fall by hitting Komander with the Hidden Blade and gets the 1-2-3.

After the match, The Undisputed Kingdom make their way down to the ring. Roderick Strong then stares Ospreay down and holds up his International Championship.

“The Learning Tree” Chris Jericho then makes his way down to the ring to address the fans.

Jericho starts off by saying he’s the new FTW Champion and there’s been a lot of negative connotations with the letters FTW. Jericho then says he’s changing the meaning of those three letters and says it’s For The World. Jericho then says the wrestling world is buzzing over him dethroning HOOK at AEW Dynasty and recalls Terry Funk telling him to teach the next generation to take the wrestling world to the next level. Jericho then says HOOK’s only flaw was not getting rid of the dead weight around him in Taz and Katsuyori Shibata. Jericho then tells HOOK he should have listened to him when he told him to stay down and he forced him to hit him with the baseball bat. Jericho then says all the men and women who have entered the Jericho Vortex have come out the other side better for it.

Big Bill’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Bill starts off by saying he has been listening to Jericho from the back and he has one thing to say. Bill says he needs the guidance of The Learning Tree. Bill then sings Jericho’s praises and says there is no one bigger than him and more fit for The Learning Tree than him. Jericho then says he has been watching Bill for a long time and he has been a big fan and he’s going to be keeping an eye on him from now on.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is standing by with Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis. Callis calls Ospreay the Golden Goose, but asks him why he didn’t use the Tiger Driver on Kyle O’Reilly. Ospreay says he has hurt people with it and doesn’t need to do it any longer. Callis then says he doesn’t like the sound of that as he cuts off Fletcher from trying to interject, saying he has no room to talk after losing tonight. Callis then says Roderick Strong has had neck issues in the past and wants there to be more when Ospreay wins the International Title. Callis then leaves to go manage Powerhouse Hobbs as Fletcher is left looking at Ospreay dejected.

We then get the entrances of the main event, which is the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Match.

IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Match: Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley (c) vs. Don Callis Family’s Powerhouse Hobbs

The match starts off with Hobbs hitting Moxley with an elbow, but Moxley responds with a chop. Moxley then hits a German suplex on Hobbs, but Hobbs responds with a suplex of his own that sends Moxley out of the ring. Hobbs then sends Moxley crashing into the barricade face first and both men begin brawling through the crowd. Both men then exchange forearms with each other and Moxley hits Hobbs with a chop before they get back inside the ring.

Hobbs then puts Moxley in a Bear Hug. Moxley then hits Hobbs with a boot then sends him crashing into the top turnbuckle. Moxley then delivers some right and left hands on Hobbs in the corner and puts him in a Sleeper and Hobbs passes out.

The winner and still the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Jon Moxley!

After the match, Konosuke Takeshita appears on the ramp and stares Moxley down, warning him that he is coming for his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is with Katsuyori Shibata. Shibata challenges Chris Jericho to a match for his FTW Championship in Winnipeg. Shibata then tells Paquette the rhinestones on her top make a heart and Paquette agrees.

Tony Schiavone then introduces Jack Perry and Perry makes his way down to the ring.

Perry starts off by saying he has had some of the best nights of his entire life in Jacksonville, but tonight, there is business to handle. Perry then says he wants to handle it face-to-face with Tony Khan.

AEW President Tony Khan then makes his way down to the ring and Perry says it’s been a long road. Perry then says the very first Double Or Nothing was five years ago and AEW has gone on to change the world. Perry then says it’s no secret that he and Khan have had their ups and downs and the only thing he’s wanted is what’s best for AEW. Perry then asks Khan to shake his hand and reinstate him so they can change the world. Khan then shakes Perry’s hand and the two embrace. Perry then smiles at the camera and holds up Khan’s hand, then nails him. The Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada then appear and ask Perry what he’s doing. The Young Bucks then help up Khan, but they then hit Khan with the TK Driver. Perry then heads to the back with the rest of The Elite gloating about what they just did as several members of the AEW roster and Shad Khan come down to the ring to check on Khan as the show comes to a close.
