Jon Moxley is no stranger to making appearances in NJPW, as he was present during Wrestle Kingdom 18 earlier this year and he competed for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title at NJPW Windy City Riot. Against all odds, Moxley would pick up the win and become the new champion.

Jon Moxley was set to challenge Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship for the first time at NJPW Windy City Riot on April 12th.

In the main event of NJPW Windy City Riot, Jon Moxley defeated Tetsuya Naito to claim the championship. Naito had held the title since January 2024, when he secured it at Wrestle Kingdom 18 by defeating Sanada.

Moxley’s victory not only earned him the title but also marked a historic moment. The AEW star is now the first wrestler to hold the top titles in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, and WWE. We’ll have to see how he will be booked as the champion in the coming months.
