As WrestleMania 40 festivities began last week, fans and critics alike termed it as the beginning of the Paul “Triple H” Levesque era. The man himself has displayed significant changes since being at the forefront of the management and recently revealed the reason for sticking around after WWE’s change in ownership.

In September 2023, a significant development unfolded in the world of sports entertainment and mixed martial arts as WWE and UFC merged to create TKO under the Endeavor banner.

This strategic union marked a new era in combat sports with Triple H assuming the role of WWE Chief Content Officer, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to the venture. However, despite this transition, former WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon maintained a degree of influence, occasionally making remote adjustments throughout the year.

As the integration progressed, McMahon’s involvement gradually waned. Ultimately, in January 2024, he made the decision to step down from his position as TKO Executive Chairman. This decision came following the lawsuit leveled against him, alleging serious charges including sex trafficking and sexual assault by former WWE employee Janel Grant.

McMahon’s resignation marked a pivotal moment in the organization’s history, with The Game and WWE President Nick Khan taking charge. During the WrestleMania 40 press conference, Triple H revealed that the only reason he stayed back after TKO Group Holdings was formed was his desire to make work fun for himself and everybody else.

“I’m loving what I do, that’s the biggest thing for me. When TKO went down and Ari Emanuel talked to me about this, I said, ‘I just want to have fun. If it’s fun, I stay. If It’s not, we’ll figure out something us.’ We’re having fun. I want everyone to have fun. When the signature was playing, I picked up the headset and said, ‘Biggest thing we want to remember tonight, everybody, have fun. Enjoy this.’ If this is fun, everybody loves it. If we have fun making it, you’re going to enjoy watching it. That’s what I believe.”

The true dawning of the Triple H era began at the conclusion of WrestleMania 40 Night 2 with Cody Rhodes dethroning Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion and officially ushering WWE into the Renaissance era with the 14-time World Champion at the helm of the corporate structure.
