Cody Rhodes, the wrestling sensation who made shockwaves with his return to WWE, has now revealed if he ever considered returning to AEW after his WWE comeback in 2022.

While Rhodes has been enjoying an incredible run in WWE since his comeback at WrestleMania 38, some fans continue to wonder if he ever wanted to make his return to AEW again.

While speaking to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Cody Rhodes was asked if he considered going back to AEW. Rhodes made it clear he never thought of that at all. He reflected on his experience at WrestleMania 39, acknowledging that while he didn’t win the title, he found himself in the spot he had always dreamed of. Rhodes recognized the privilege of being featured on the poster alongside other talented individuals. Regarding the 2K cover, he noted that while he wasn’t handed the exact role of “quarterback,” he was given responsibility, alongside Nick and Hunter.

Rhodes felt that it wouldn’t have aligned with his values to take on a role that he was simply slotted into, as he believes in growing and evolving beyond initial expectations. He emphasized that his perspective isn’t meant to disparage other places or individuals.

”Oh, no and it’s not in any way a negative towards them. It’s just, I know I didn’t win the title at WrestleMania 39, but I was in the spot I always dreamed of. And I know how lucky I am to be in that spot being there in the poster amongst other talented people. When I see the 2K cover, they didn’t hand me the exact ball saying ‘Hey you’re the quarterback,’ they did give me responsibility, being Nick and Hunter. I feel that it would’ve been just against my being, because I was slotted there, you help put me there and I’m growing it behind what they thought it would be, so it never crossed my mind and not in a negative towards any other places.”

Cody Rhodes is in the fight of his life at WrestleMania 40 as he will be facing off against The Rock and Roman Reigns at Night One and Roman Reigns for his Undisputed Universal Championship at Night Two, so we’ll have to see how he will fare in the bouts.
