Bayley Vows to Make History After Winning at WrestleMania 40

During her time as the leader of the faction Damage CTRL, Bayley made many enemies. Now embroiled in a feud with her former faction, Bayley has declared her intent to create history at WrestleMania 40.

Led by Bayley, Damage CTRL made their debut at WWE SummerSlam 2022. However, the group’s loyalties changed dramatically when they betrayed Bayley shortly after her triumph in the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match. Despite this betrayal, Bayley chose WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY as her opponent for WrestleMania 40.

Bayley played a pivotal role in revolutionizing WWE’s approach to women’s wrestling a decade ago. Now, marking a significant milestone in her career, Bayley is set to compete in her first-ever marquee singles match for a WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.

Discussing the upcoming match on NFL Total Access, Bayley expressed her excitement and gratitude for being featured in a marquee bout at WrestleMania. She described WrestleMania as the most special time of the year, likening it to the Super Bowl and emphasizing its significance since childhood. Bayley highlighted the unprecedented level of excitement surrounding WrestleMania 40, noting the return of iconic figures like The Rock and the overall buzz within WWE.

Being part of such a monumental event, which has spanned four decades, is a surreal experience for Bayley. She acknowledged the personal and emotional journey leading up to the match, particularly with the inception of Damage CTRL and her rivalry with IYO SKY. Bayley sees her participation in WrestleMania 40 as an immense honor and an opportunity to make history by capturing the WWE Women’s Championship.

“WrestleMania is always so exciting. It’s the most special time of the year. That’s our Super Bowl. It’s always to me felt like it’s on another planet, even since I was a kid,” she said. “This WrestleMania in particular, WrestleMania 40, this is the hottest WWE has ever been. We have The Rock coming back, we have everybody. To be a part of this gigantic show, WrestleMania 40, that’s been going on for four decades, is insane. So the fact that I have a marquee match for a championship in a very personal, emotional story that I kind of created with the beginning of Damage CTRL with IYO SKY, it’s a huge honor, I don’t take it lightly, and I can’t wait to walk out as WWE Women’s Champion because this is history right here.”

With the other members of Damage CTRL now engaged in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match against Bianca Belair, Naomi, and Jade Cargill, Bayley has a chance to face IYO SKY on a more even playing field. This development allows Bayley to focus solely on her singles match without the interference or distraction of her former faction members.
