Cody Rhodes came back to WWE back in 2022 and became a massive there in the company, but he was a major part of AEW before that. He was defiant against WWE at the time, which included his infamous throne-breaking incident. Triple H has finally addressed the incident in a recent interview.

Cody Rhodes left WWE back in 2016 and after that, he underwent a severe change in character and in-ring psychology. He honed his craft in promotions such as ROH and NJPW before starting AEW as one of the top stars during its initial year.

Cody Rhodes was very serious when it came to his war against WWE, which was evident in his destroying Triple H’s throne during AEW Double Or Nothing 2019. He took shots at Triple H in the past apart from that as well.

While speaking on Allan & Carly, Triple H was asked about Cody Rhodes breaking his throne in AEW. The Game responded with a laugh, downplaying the incident. Triple H expressed admiration for Cody’s growth in the industry, acknowledging their shared history and the influence of Cody’s father, Dusty Rhodes

“I laughed about it then. People make that stuff out to be so much more than it is. If I was in his shoes, I’d have done the same thing. And it’s one of the things that I love about Cody is, I watched Cody go from being a kid in this business, and I don’t mean that as disrespectful. He’s literally a kid.”

The Cerebral Assassin then commended Cody Rhodes for breaking out of his father’s shadow, taking risks, and discovering his identity in the wrestling world.

“His dad was in some way a mentor to me. We started NXT together. He was a big part of that system, I learned a lot from Dusty and sort of sitting under his learning tree as well. We had a wonderful partnership. And to see him grow from literally this kid to coming in, trying to find his way in the business, and come out of his dad’s shadow which was monumental. Then gambling on himself to go find himself and find who he was.”

It is clear Triple H sees great things in Cody Rhodes, as the latter will now be headlining WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns in the main event. We will have to wait and see if Rhodes will be able to finish the story this time.
