Velveteen Dream experienced one of the biggest falls from grace in the history of WWE due to allegations that led to the hashtag #FireVelveteenDream trending whenever he appeared on television. He made his in-ring return soon and this didn’t make fans happy at all. In light of this, Booker T believes Dream getting persecuted is just a slippery slope.

Dream previously revealed that he was not against returning to the ring again, which turned out to be true as Dream recently made his in-ring appearance for the first time in years at Dynasty in New York.

While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T discussed the negative online reaction to Dream’s return. Booker, who previously considered a return for Dream, pointed out that despite three arrests, the former NXT talent has not faced charges related to a sex crime. Booker expressed his confusion over the criticism, emphasizing Dream’s lack of involvement in such offenses.

I can understand if he was convicted of that,” Booker said. “I can understand if he was charged with that. I can understand if he was registered as that. But these days, people can make accusations on you, and people take it as fact. There have been no notable crimes on paper with any police department, as far as that goes. And the thing is, I wonder what you’ve got to do to get a second chance in this day and age we’re living in right now?”

Booker T continued discussing the impact of social media on Dream’s situation, highlighting how comments from people worldwide can influence public opinion without legal charges. He expressed concerns about the potential long-term consequences, emphasizing the challenging landscape created by the interconnected nature of today’s society.

And that’s where everything is so connected, where people can make your life miserable, where you can never get a job ever again in your life, and you’ve never been charged for that crime that people have convicted you for, in the public opinion. It’s really a slippery slope that we’re living in today.”

It is not known whether Velveteen Dream will end up getting more bookings in the independent circuit following his appearance at Dynasty. It remains to be seen what will become of Dream in the coming months.
