Ilja Dragunov has been proving his worth as a remarkable WWE NXT champion. However, that success has triggered former champion Carmelo Hayes who made a huge statement at the expense of Dragunov.
Ilja competed in the main event of last week’s NXT show against his long-time rival, Dijak in a fast-paced wrestling bout. Right after the NXT champion picked up the win, his celebrations were quickly cut short.
Carmelo Hayes ambushed Ilja Dragunov from behind launching brutal assault on the victor of the match and leaving him broken right in the middle of the ring. The show ended with Hayes hosting the NXT championship in his hand making his intentions perfectly clear.
Dragunov was not present at this week’s edition of NXT following the attack. However, he sent out message on X to Hayes in the middle of the broadcasting. He mocked Carmelo for talking trash when Ilja was not present and vowed that his day of reckoning is coming.
“.@Carmelo_WWE It’s easy to speak about me without fear when you know I’m home in Germany recovering and spending time with my son. But one day soon we’ll see if you have the guts to speak that way to my face. Your day of reckoning is coming Melo.”
With Dragunov’s message sent loud and clear, it will be interesting to see what happens when Hayes and him come face-to-face on WWE NXT programming.
