The Rock made headlines after Cody Rhodes temporarily gave him his WrestleMania 40 spot, but things changed after the WrestleMania press conference. With that said, Eric Bischoff believes Roman Reigns played second fiddle to The Rock at the event.

Tensions escalated during the press event when Cody Rhodes chose Roman Reigns as his WrestleMania 40 opponent, sparking heated verbal exchange. This decision led to The Rock delivering a resounding slap to Cody Rhodes, igniting a fiery confrontation.

The whole show had a lot of Attitude Era vibes to it, blended with realism. However, fans were actually surprised to see just how subdued Roman Reigns was when The Rock took charge.

While speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff talked about the press event and stated that he believes Roman Reigns played second fiddle to The Rock at the event.

“Yep,” Bischoff said, agreeing that Reigns was “second fiddle” to his cousin. “He did get lost in the shadow. There’s no question about it. I don’t know how that he wouldn’t in this scenario given everything that has led up to this press conference. What we saw on Friday [Cody Rhodes stepping aside for The Rock], what we saw on Monday [fans turning against The Rock], the awkwardness of all of that.”

The Rock’s segments also drew insane numbers on YouTube. After the WrestleMania 40 press event, there’s speculation of a Night One tag team match with The Rock and Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The unfolding storyline will shape the booking in the coming weeks.
