The Rock vs. Roman Reigns was initially planned for WrestleMania 39, but due to The Great One’s hectic schedule, he couldn’t be physically prepared for the bout. The match is now more or less confirmed for this year’s WrestleMania and it appears The Great One has already started training for his in-ring return.

The Rock confronted Roman Reigns on SmackDown last week after Cody Rhodes confirmed he won’t face Reigns at WrestleMania 40, making it learn he will face Roman Reigns instead.

While speaking on the Pat McAfee show, The Rock was asked about not being ready for an in-ring return despite being physically fit. The Rock stated that when he does return to the ring at WrestleMania, the most important thing is the training camp – which has already started for him.

The world of pro wrestling, I haven’t done that in a very long time. When I do go back to the ring at WrestleMania the most important thing is the training camp that has already started. I have multiple rings set up in Hawaii and in the Westcoast, we’re full on in camp.”

The body is hurting because it’s hard to adjust back, but in a way it’s like riding a bike. I was lucky in my career I was somewhat a ring general. But the training part of it, it’s hard because you can do the weights, you can do all the stuff you wanna do, but until you go back in the ring and take those falls and slams and suplexes, theres nothing like it.”

To answer your question on why? Dude, I love it. I don’t have to go back, but I love what I do, I love getting in there. I love pro wrestling, it’s who I am and what I was born to do, I was born in this business.’

The Rock also wanted to save WrestleMania 40 with the Roman Reigns match. The Rock and Roman Reigns will have face-off at the WrestleMania 40 kickoff event today as well. We will have to wait and see if The Rock will end up beating Roman Reigns at The Showcase of The Immortals.
