Sonya Deville suffered an ACL tear after injuring herself on the July 28th episode of SmackDown. She is currently rehabbing her injury but it appears Deville is also working on a project outside of WWE while she remains absent.

There were rumors circulating that after being sidelined for five months, Sonya Deville could be set to make her return at The Royal Rumble. However, this did not come to fruition, which ended up disappointing fans.

Sonya Deville uploaded a photo to her Instagram story, revealing she was part of recent movie project. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Sonya Deville is currently featured in a movie being filmed in Pinellas County this week.

In the film titled “DNA Secrets,” Deville portrays a police officer. The movie is produced by David Yates, the former Clearwater Marine Aquarium CEO known for helming the two “Dolphin Tale” movies.

According to Yates, “DNA Secrets” revolves around an antique store owner who opens a Pandora’s box by gifting DNA kits to relatives. The story unfolds as several family members are killed, prompting the store owner to realize she could be next on the killer’s list.

As she gets closer to the truth, she discovers that she herself is at the heart of a mystery putting her entire family in danger. The movie is being shot at various locations, including Philippe Park in Safety Harbor and the Clearwater Historical Society’s headquarters.

We will have to wait and see when Sonya Deville will make her triumphant return to WWE television. In the meantime, she is keeping herself busy with numerous projects and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
