The most anticipated showdown that the wrestling world is talking about is the highly rumored clash between two of the biggest WWE superstars of all time, The Rock and Roman Reigns at the Grandest Stage of them all, WrestleMania 40.

However, the events that transpired at the 2024 Royal Rumble pay-per-view might have indicated a different creative direction for the Tribal Chief. He could find himself clashing with the winner of the 30-man over-the-top-rope namesake battle royal, Cody Rhodes.

The American Nightmare won his second straight Rumble match and pointed straight towards Roman Reigns after the win, giving a strong indication for the WrestleMania main event.

Despite Cody looking to finish the story, the dream match between The Rock and Roman Reigns is reportedly on the cards. Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that the mega match between the two Samoan stars is still happening somewhere down the line, but there is no exact confirmation on its timeline.

“The Roman and Dwayne match is still happening. I just don’t know where and Bryan you probably know where because you probably know discussions I may know too and I can’t talk about them but anyways the point is, it’s still happening.”

With Cody Rhodes emerging victorious at the Royal Rumble and seemingly making his intentions clear to go after The Head of the Table, it will be interesting to see if the aforementioned dream match happens at WrestleMania.

Do you think The Rock vs Roman Reigns will happen at WrestleMania 40? or will it be a rematch from last year’s Show of Shows? Sound off in the comments!
