Samoa Joe Booked for Unexpected AEW World Title Match on 1/17 Dynamite Episode

Samoa Joe won the AEW World Title at Worlds End, and now his first title defense has been confirmed. That match is also against a very interesting opponent.

Tony Khan made big deal about Jinder Mahal getting a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match, when he hadn’t won a match in around a year. He made a call that Hook should get an AEW World Title shot.

Jinder Mahal asked “What TF is Hook?” That caused plenty of memes to come out, even if Mahal deleted that tweet.

Now, Tony Khan has answered back in the biggest way he could, with AEW’s booking. After a segment on AEW Dynamite’s Homecoming episode in Daily’s Place, it ended with Hook vs. Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship next week.

We will have to see how this match turns out, because Hook vs Samoa Joe could be quite an encounter. Hook did say that he wanted Joe on AEW Collision, which aired prior to Tony Khan’s tweet, but we have to wonder if Hook would still be in this match if Tony Khan didn’t have that little social media field day.
