Kenny Omega was suddenly taken out of action with a case of diverticulitis. That illness can heal, and wrestlers have made it back from it before, but it is a slow process.

We previously reported that Excalibur was busted making diverticulitis from years ago. That was not a good look for them. Then again, the diverticulitis move is also given to the F5 in the AEW: Fight Forever game, something that Omega had nothing to do with. This was obviously a scary situation for AEW.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Kenny Omega is making progress. That being said, he’s nowhere near a return to the ring yet.

“He’s doing better, but he has a long ways to go.”

AEW tried their best to keep Kenny Omega’s illness close to the vest, but that obviously didn’t work for long. Now, he is on the mend, but he is making progress.

We’re sending out our best to Kenny Omega as he recovers from diverticulitis. This was not the way he wanted to end 2023 at all, and there is no date for his in-ring return. Still, it’s good to know that he’s better than he was 3 days ago.
