AEW’s backstage atmosphere has been full of one controversy after another for a while. This trend didn’t stop when CM Punk entered the situation. It appears that there was no attempt from the company’s EVPs to remedy the situation.

CM Punk had a lot to say about The Young Bucks during the 2022 All Out media scrum. This led to backstage ordeal that resulted in the suspension of The Elite and CM Punk as well, and Ace Steel was fired. Less than one year later, CM Punk was fired from AEW, after the Young Bucks inked new long term deals.

During Fightful’s Q&A Podcast behind their paywall, Sean Sapp was asked whether the Young Bucks tried to mend things with CM Punk while he was with the company. It was noted that no attempt was made that he has heard of to do that at all.

“There had been no real track record of amends being made while Punk was on TV. Their friends were getting kicked out of Collision. I get it.”

About an eventual agreement between the two parties, it was noted that “eventually it will happen, I think this WWE run will lead to some fences being mended with everything else.”

We will have to see what happens with CM Punk in the future. He certainly gained a lot of attention during his AEW run, and that led to some bridges being burned. Only time will tell if they end up mending those broken relationship eventually.
