Things have been crazy in the world of professional wrestling over the last few days. It all started when WWE on Fox posted a caption on social last Friday that referred to Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits as “Dem Boyz.” This was a term generally used to refer to the Briscoe Brothers.

Given that Jay Briscoe recently passed away in a car accident, his brother Mark Briscoe wasn’t too happy about the tweet and lashed out at WWE on Fox for the post. Following this, several other wrestlers also joined in to support Mark Briscoe.

Maria Kanellis was the latest to show support for the ROH veteran. However, following her show of support, many fans took to social media to pass derogatory comments at the former WWE star. Maria has since responded to those comments on X.

“I think I’m about done on this particular platform. It’s too crazy. Disagreeing is one thing. Threatening my family, name calling, agism, racism, family planning shaming, religious prejudice, and sexism is all too much. I will keep my Instagram. But it’s about time to move on from the negativity.”

Following this post, Maria’s husband Mike Bennett was quick to stand up for his wife by stating that some things are bigger than wrestling. However, he also received backlash from the fans. One fan went as far as to call Maria a w**re. However, Mike Bennett handled the situation with maturity as he calmly responded to the fan.

I hope a lot of you guys find the peace you are searching for. The world can be cruel and unkind but I can promise you jumping on social media and bringing your sadness and anger on here will not lighten up your life.”

It’s sad to see wrestlers get attacked on social media for standing up for their friends. We will keep following this story, so stay tuned to Ringside News for more.

What’s your take on Mike Bennett’s response? Do you think the backlash he received was justified? Sound off in the comments section.
