CM Punk’s return to WWE was marked with happiness backstage. This also makes a lot of people initiate some intense conversations, and Daniel Cormier knows a thing or two about CM Punk, both from WWE and the UFC.

UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier recently disclosed that he texted CM Punk following his WWE comeback, sparking speculation about Sasha Banks’ potential return.

CM Punk’s return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023 took the wrestling world by storm, with a raucous reception in his hometown of Chicago. His comeback had been shrouded in secrecy, catching many within WWE by surprise.

During an interview on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Daniel Cormier shared his thoughts on CM Punk’s WWE return and pondered the possibility of Sasha Banks, also known as Mercedes Mone, making a similar comeback.

“I texted him. I said, ‘Dude, what a freaking pop.’ He goes, ‘I couldn’t even hear my music it was so loud.’ He said it was so loud in there he couldn’t even hear his music. This is the new WWE though, right?”

“It doesn’t matter how bad it ended, you can always go back. My thought is, Royal Rumble, maybe Sasha Banks comes back.”

When Ariel Helwani said, “who cares,” Cormier suggested Trinity Fatu, formerly known as Naomi in WWE, could return next. He said, “Or Naomi. Remember, they were the tag team champs?”

This led to an exchange with Ariel Helwani, who said, “CM Punk is the man, the Best in the World. The Legit Boss, what has she ever done?”

Answering Ariel Helwani’s question, Daniel Cormier replied, “She’s won every championship. She’s done everything. Right now, her name is something Mone. She is rocking and rolling in Japan. She’s the best. What are you talking about, you don’t care.”

When Ariel Helwani asked if Daniel Cormier was surprised CM Punk came back, he answered, comparing Punk’s return with another big comeback, Randy Orton.

“The thing about wrestling today is, if you’re on the internet at all, everyone is guessing. It was in Chicago, so you thought if there was a time, maybe.”

“I liked it, but if you’re Randy Orton, you’re pissed off, right? Randy Orton comes out, muscles popping.”

“Big chest, big shoulders, big muscles, and then ‘Look in my eyes.’ Oh, Randy Orton is back, let’s put him back in a tag team with Matt Riddle because now we’re all talking about CM Punk.”

After Ariel Helwani mentioned that Matt Riddle is gone, Daniel Cormier responded, “I know, I’m just saying, that’s what they were doing with Randy Orton before. He came back, important, ‘he could fight Roman Reigns. Then, CM Punk comes back and now it’s, ‘Eh, Randy Orton. Good, but come on.'”

This was certainly a hot take on the matter. CM Punk’s return to WWE is generating a lot of discussions, but we will be here with all the topics you want to discuss right here at Ringside News. You can check out the full interview in the video below.
