The pro wrestling world is full of unique people with different opinions. Nobody can agree on everything, and sometimes, that can cause heat backstage.

Triple H is calling the shots in WWE now as Chief Content Officer. That is a role he worked hard to attain, but it took years of grinding on the road as a WWE Superstar to finally work his way up the corporate ladder. Along the way up, Triple H seemingly rubbed RVD the wrong way.

RVD opened up a bit about his heat with Triple H during the 1 of Kind podcast. He said that prior to 2004, Triple H pulled him aide and offered to help him with his promos, and that insulted RVD a bit.

“I was asked about this like a year or two ago. Otherwise, I would have forgotten because it’s a really faint memory. And this would have been before 2004. I think it was Hunter who asked or offered. I think he pulled me aside and offered to help me with my promos and I think I was insulted by that.”

My ego competitiveness made me feel like he was saying I couldn’t talk, you know, and I was like, ‘I don’t want to talk like him,’ you know? ‘He just doesn’t get me.’ And I think I felt, you know, more like that and that probably, you know, a very good chance could have led to some of the long term, long term heat that I had while I was there, possibly looking back at it.”

RVD may not be Triple H’s favorite Superstar, but The Game is doing what is best for business at all time. Rob Van Dam was brought back to read names for the 2023 WWE Draft on both nights, so you never know what could happen in the future.

RVD has made a couple AEW appearances since then. The Whole F’n Show has also opened up in the past about how that gig may have kept him from getting a new booking with WWE. Only time will tell if RVD returns to WWE, but he’s not ready to hang up his wrestling boots just yet.
