WWE RAW was quite shot this week, and it included a rather confusing match finish the #1 contender match for GUNTHER’s IC Title shot at Survivor Series ended in confusing fashion, and now it appears that WWE is rectifying that botch.

A significant upcoming match at WWE Survivor Series 2023 that appeared to be confirmed might still be up in the air. This uncertainty arose after the November 6 episode of WWE Raw, particularly during the Intercontinental Championship #1 contender four-way match.

The match featured Ricochet, The Miz, Bronson Reed, and Ivar, with The Miz emerging as the victor. However, the finish of the match raised questions, and these concerns have become even more pronounced. There was a double pin, with Ivar pinning Ricochet and Miz pinning Reed. When the referee counted to two, Ricochet kicked out, while Reed did not, resulting in Miz’s victory.

Ricochet’s kickout was quite evident, but the commentators continued to express their confusion, and the referee appeared visibly uncertain as well. We previously noted how this was an apparent botch after Ricochet possibly suffered concussion.

This has led to doubts about whether this was indeed the intended finish or if Ricochet was meant to stay down for a genuine double three count, allowing both Miz and Ivar to secure pins simultaneously.

WWE has updated the Survivor Series 2023 preview page on its website to reflect two matches confirmed on Raw. Matches were booked, including the men’s WarGames match and Rhea Ripley defending the Women’s World Championship against Zoey Stark.

One match that seemed to be set up on Raw but is absent from the preview is the Intercontinental Champion Gunther vs. The Miz. After the four-way match, Ivar attacked Miz, setting up a bout between the two for the following week.

The lack of any stipulation for the match next week, such as “if Ivar wins, he gets added to the Survivor Series match,” is noteworthy. This absence may indicate that the attack and the subsequent match between Ivar and Miz were not part of the original plan, possibly replacing an intended double finish that could have set up a rematch.

We will have to see how this pans out. It appears that WWE will go with a triple threat match for GUNTHER’s IC Title at Survivor Series.
