Rey Mysterio Made WWE History At 2023 Crown Jewel Event

WWE Crown Jewel went down in Crown Jewel is in Mohammed Abdu Arena in Saudi Arabia. The company brought another massive card to the Middle East, and Rey Mysterio made history in the process.

Rey Mysterio faced Logan Paul in a match for the WWE United States Championship during the WWE Crown Jewel 2023 premium live event held in Saudi Arabia. In the end, the Maverick won that title, much to the shock of fans all over.

Towards the conclusion of the bout, one of Paul’s associates handed him brass knuckles, but Rey thwarted Paul’s efforts, causing the knuckles to fall inside the ring. Santos Escobar swiftly retrieved the brass knuckles and placed them inside the ring while chasing the person away from ringside. Paul managed to reclaim the knuckles and used them to strike Rey as he attempted a springboard dive, leading to his victory.

WWE Stats highlighted that Rey Mysterio had an opportunity to create history at Crown Jewel. He did so during Crown Jewel, as no United States Championship reign had both commenced and concluded outside the United States. Mysterio had won the title from Austin Theory in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, during an episode of SmackDown in August.

Since the title’s lineage began in 1975, no reign with the United States Championship has both started AND ended outside of the United States

Logan Paul had taken a break from WWE since his last appearance at SummerSlam, where he secured a win against Ricochet in the opening match of the PLE event. Following a boxing match with Dillon Danis in Manchester, England, Paul issued a challenge to Mysterio for the United States Title.

Logan Paul is now the WWE United States Champion, but Rey Mysterio is not happy about how that went down. We will have to see what the next steps are at this point.
