Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou threw down in a 10-round contest in Saudi Arabia. That fight saw Fury win via judge’s decision, and it was quite a showing for Ngannou, who lost, but also shut down a lot of doubters. In the end, a lot of money changed hands.

Tyson Fury returned to the boxing ring against ‘The Predator’ over the weekend, headlining an ESPN pay-per-view event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a country known for hosting high-profile fights.

The event featured numerous stars, including former legends such as Manny Pacquiao and Riddick Bowe, as well as celebrities like Kanye West and Eminem. Of course, Vince McMahon and The Undertaker made the trip to Saudi Arabia as well.

The fight itself was a memorable one, with The Gypsy King pulling off a win via a split decision. Despite being heavily favored at 14-to-1 odds, Fury was knocked down in the third round. He relied on his jab and activity to secure the decision victory.

The substantial risk paid off, as the Sporting News reports that Tyson Fury is set to earn over $50 million for the fight against Ngannou. This was his first fight in Saudi Arabia, with a second match against Oleksandr Usyk scheduled for December, potentially pushing his 2023 earnings beyond $100 million.

The fight purse was also substantial for Francis Ngannou, who left the UFC to face Fury. He anticipated making millions of dollars against Fury, exceeding his total earnings from his entire MMA career.

We will have to see what is next for Tyson Fury. He doesn’t need to fight very often if he’s pulling in that kind of money. Most people would be able to retire with that kind of payday, but he also has a lot of bills to pay at this point.
