Adam Copeland made his debut at AEW WrestleDream and he has wasted no time in becoming a top star in the company. That said, he had an awkward promo segment with Ricky Starks on AEW Collision and now Eric Bischoff stated that he believes Copeland’s promo on Starks hurt his legacy.

During last week’s episode of AEW Collision, Adam Copeland and Ricky Starks had a heated promo exchange, where Copeland called Starks a ‘Vanilla Midget’ and compared him to The Rock. Starks would also give a sharp report and many fans felt the whole exchange was awkward in general.

While speaking on 83 Weeks, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff talked about Adam Copeland’s low-hanging fruit remarks on Ricky Starks. Bischoff also stated that he believes Copeland’s promo ended up taking away from his legacy.

If Adam is being positioned as that veteran baby face — which he should be, because he is — that makes me feel a little bit differently about the promo. That to me is not the promo that a babyface, a legend, a veteran, someone who’s clearly much older, that’s not the promo that I would cut.

If you’ve inherited that perception, you’ve built that perception with the audience, and they recognize you as this legacy performer,” he said. “I think it took away from Adam Copeland as that legacy babyface.”

As previously reported, Adam Copeland and Ricky Starks were legitimately upset over the unscripted insults during their AEW Collision promo. Regardless, we hope such an incident doesn’t happen again, as Copeland is in AEW to help put over talent and not put them down.
