AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT ran shows at the same time this week. They had lot of things that they needed to get in order, and now we have some backstage notes.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that AEW had scheduled Swerve Strickland vs. Bryan Danielson as the opening match for Dynamite by Monday. He also included several more notes from both shows.

Many NXT regulars in the audience couldn’t attend due to the high demand for NXT tickets that night, and they were on standby. WWE sources noted it was the most demand they’ve seen for a mid-week NXT show at the WWE PC.

AEW was informed early in the afternoon that Jon Moxley wouldn’t be able to compete against Fenix. This call was announced during the Zero-Hour show, and Orange Cassidy took his spot. Of course, Freshly Squeezed ended up taking home the title in the end.

Both AEW and WWE sources told the outlet that they had strong confidence in the shows they had prepared for Tuesday. The shows brought everything they could to the table, including a ton of main roster Superstars, including The Undertaker.

As of Monday, it was reported that WWE and AEW were still making calls to make additions or changes to their respective shows. They were obviously able to make things work in time.

During the commercial breaks, John Cena jumped the barricade and took as many selfies as possible with the crowd. He was obviously having a great time in the NXT Arena.

Only time will tell when AEW and WWE run another head-to-head battle like they did this week. It was certainly a busy night, and we will have way more coverage for you here at Ringside News in the days to come.
