Dillon Danis Eyes AEW Debut for Showdown with MJF

MJF is AEW World Champion, and he is also still 1/2 of the ROH Tag Team Champions after a successful defense in a handicap match at WrestleDream. That being said, he apparently has someone else eager to take him on.

Dillon Danis has already tried to get under MJF’s skin, but The Devil brushed him off. In fact, MJF said that Dillon Danis is “a jobber.” It just so happens that a guy like Dillon Danis doesn’t take “no” for an answer.

During an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Dillon Danis alleged that Helwani removed his photo with Grayson Waller. He inquired if Helwani has any connections within AEW and expresses his interest in making an appearance, particularly “against MJF.”

“Do you know anybody from AEW? Well, I want to do the rival because he [Logan Paul] is in WWE. I want to make an appearance against MJF. We’ve been trying to work on it. It might happen, but I don’t know. But now with the time, we’ve been trying to work on it. Me and him, imagine? That would be great.”

Dillon Danis admitted that he lacks connections to Tony Khan or anyone at AEW, making it challenging to arrange an appearance. When questioned by Ariel Helwani about his preference for AEW over WWE, Danis clarified that he has a deep appreciation for the Attitude Era.

“I don’t know Tony Khan. I don’t know anybody there. I would love to do that. It’s perfect because it’s AEW, WWE. I don’t want to against [WWE]. I love wrestling. I love the Attitude Era.”

Ariel Helwani probed further, asking why Dillon Danis isn’t considering WWE. Danis claims that WWE is in the “Karen” era, and he has a fondness for the old-school wrestlers. He asserts that veterans like Rey Mysterio appreciated his presence backstage and even mentioned Paul receiving teasing treatment.

“F*cking Logan’s part of the Karen era. I like the old-school guys. Like Rey Mysterio and those guys, they loved me. They were all back there like, ‘F*cking Logan, no one likes him, we give him swirlies in the back.’ Triple H even said that to me.”

Dillon Danis is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion with experience in Bellator MMA. He is a trained fighter, but that might not get him in every locker room he wants to be a part of, especially in pro wrestling.

Dillon Danis is slated to fight Logan Paul at The Prime Card on October 14th, marking Paul’s return to boxing since 2021. Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE has plans to use Logan Paul, but it won’t be until after his fight in Manchester is over.
